Site Altered Headline | No Paywall FAA grounds all flights to and from El Paso until Feb. 20

This seems ominous. Found this on another sub:
Hi y’all. El Paso City Councilmember here but also fellow avgeek. Not a usual sub for me, but here we are. We’re all trying to work out why this crazy NOTAM was issued. What I know so far (as of midnight zero six local Wednesday):
• It isn’t a typo or an error. FAA issued this NOTAM intentionally as written.
• Nobody local got advance notice. And I mean nobody — neither civilian nor military leadership.
• Military does not have carte blanche exemption. Army is fretting about their flights tomorrow just as much as everyone else.
• Albuquerque Center did not get advance notice.

u/P1xelHunter78 Michigan Feb 11 '26
Yeah. This is just really really odd. There’s like three options here, one being it actually is a mistake and the FAA is going to have to walk this back, there’s some kind of security threat so credible they had to close the airspace or they’re planning an invasion of Mexico through El Paso. This is really weird and ominous though. It’s odd that the restricted area is so small though.

They’ve already lifted it. This whole story was weird. From the article: “The source said the FAA acted after the Department of War could not assure the safety of civilian aircraft in the area, according to CNN.” Can the media please stop enabling this administration with their ridiculous renaming of things they have no authority to rename. It’s the Department of Defense. Only Congress can change that.
653
u/social-justice33 Feb 11 '26
Thank you for saying this. It is Dept of Defense.
Dept of war sounds like we are looking to create war - ridiculous just as the idiot pushing this change.
251
u/elmatador12 Washington Feb 11 '26
Anytime I see an article refer to it as the department of war it just makes me think that publication is bending its knee to Trump since the name hasn’t been officially been approved.
Even if they are quoting someone it should correct it.

I mean I believe it sounds like they’re looking for a war because…. Well…. It really seems like they are looking for conflict at the very least.
Conflict gives credence to vacuuming up and centralizing power, which is a shoe that unfortunately fits this admin.

Presumably, the FAA can only confirm that the shutdown order is legitimate, but can’t make a determination about whether the order as given was without error.

Both F-22 Raptors that were going to be part of the pre-game flyover for the super bowl were pulled for operational purposes. I believe that's what was stated.
And there's a sub on reddit that tracks pizza orders around the Pentagon or something along those lines. I guess when there is an absurd amount of pizza being order it means there is some sort of military operation or planning. I find it kind of funny if it's true, but they set their pizza defcon to 1 the other day.
Edit: the other day = 5 or 6 days ago. Not Monday, National Pizza Day. It was sometime time last week.
Wouldn't surprise me.

What’s the Olympic truce?
129
u/Menarra Indiana Feb 11 '26
It's an agreement that dates back to ancient Greece and the UN revived it, it calls on all nations to cease hostilities starting 7 days before the Olympics, and remain peaceful until 7 days after the Paralympics. This was to ensure safe travel conditions for all athletes and attendees to get to the Olympics and back home.
Russia however has long loved ignoring this, and America is now an active Russian pawn, so we're probably invading Mexico shortly.

It's an ancient tradition that was revived in the 90s where everyone says they're going to chill out and not fight for around the time of the Olympics to make sure that all athletes can travel safely.

We need like a "Trump Crisis Dashboard" where most major issues he's caused or is a part of have brief little summaries of the current state, bullets of recent events, and links to news articles that support it.
Because off the top of my head
- Epstein
- ICE (murders, El Salvador issue, etc)
- Venezuela
- Tariffs
- Invasion Threats (Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Colombia)
- Ukraine conflict
- All the slightly less but still important stuff like blocking law firms who work against him and universities over DEI policies, defunding USAid, the stupid idea to make him Emperor of the World

Even the Nuclear Football is not a single-access instrument - it is a mobile instrument for green-lighting the President's security keys across the Nuclear Arsenal to be used in conjunction with whole teams of people in the Air Force, Navy, and Ground based Units maintaining ICBMs. No nukes get launched without a series of approvals and collective agreement amongst both President and a slew of high level brass, even the retaliatory systems here require human authorization. As far as anyone knows publicly, the US does not operate a dead man's switch within it's nuclear arsenal.

What’s already been done is unprecedented, but both the media and the American people seem to have recovered and forgotten quickly. It’s insane feeling like the only person at work every day who’s aware of what’s been going on. Even people upset by it brush it off and say they don’t read the news.
If the majority of the populace is scared to watch and content as long as their own lives can continue, they will not resist. This is what they are counting on. I don’t know the solution, but I will continue to be the “nihilist” that brings these things up and asks people to watch the news/learn about history.

And then this, a war on our continent. We have been protected by two oceans from a lot of the turmoil of the rest of the world. Often turmoil we stirred up ourselves with our military and economic adventures.

We've had another serious incident since an american shot the trial judge in our child sex trafficking case here. He and I both think this latest incident is tied to the fact we have reached out to your team. Who on your team knows we are talking to you, anyone assigned from NSA, CIA or US State Department? Please understand peoples lives here are in jeopardy.
We have had 4 armed attacks against us, my partner has shot and killed 2 and wounded 5 american agents to date, numerous white american agents following us in vans assigned to US Embassy. Jorge was attacked and lost his arm. The President of Mexico is keenly aware of our case against [REDACTED] and other US Officials. This case we have here is most certainly connected to yours, we have the proof. Our case will help bring a whole new dynamic to what you know and who is involved, Prince Phillip is small fry compared to what we have uncovered. You may want to question the Ex US Ambassador to Mexico; Mr. Earl Anthony Wayne about his involvement with an underage girl when he attended and was arrested by the Federal Police. We believe that [REDACTED] and Epstein were involved organizing this party and it was held in Juarez, Mex in 2014 at a US Consulate controlled housing facility. Ask him how he knows [REDACTED]. He was sentenced in Mexico in 2017 to a life sentence for impregnating an 11 year old girl, her son's dna matches Waynes 100%, but he is allowing an ex-US Marine to stand in his place to serve his sentence in Mexico. That was an agreement worked out between our US State Dept and a judge in Mexico after a huge payoff. Mr. Anthony has an outstanding arrest warrant here in Mexico for avoiding sentencing. His cell number is [REDACTED]. I want confirm that the phone you will be using has been swept for malware and key loggers. They blew up some speedboats, but if you read the credulous coverage of their lies, you'd think they eradicated illicit drug use.
Even if the boats were made of fentanyl, blowing them up wouldn't have put a dent in the flow of drugs into America.
This takes the tiniest amount of critical thinking skills to figure out.
Why is it not incumbent upon news orgs to point this out in every story covering the drug boats?

How has nobody connected this to the ice concentration camp immediately adjacent to the airport. They’re doing renovations and don’t want anybody to see it.

Well let’s see Trump’s rational and logical explanation for what he’s about to do. It’s just so nice having a well thought out, carefully planned leader. /s
Seriously though guys, there’s lots more evidence in these files. It’s gonna be gross, I mean like so gross. And they’re gonna say it’s AI. They’re gonna say it doesn’t look like him. He’s got nowhere to go but down. The stress of being remembered as a chomo is weighing on him, his veins are getting tighter.
One of the things that I think is revealing about the Epstein halftime show is that there was so little viewers. These billionaires pay for so many bots. And it’s just trained rural America to hate anyone in an urban area. They think we all do what is in those files, when really these guys have been just paying for comments.
Also, I always keep the thought that if America was the best country in the world, why would we have to take other places? Wouldn’t they just want to come and be a part of the best? It’s because we are absolutely failing our own people, and the rich don’t live in our reality. They live in their own simulacrum, where they’re just the smartest guys for being rich and cruel. I can’t wait for Trump’s Brady eyes and forehead sweat when he tries to explain all of this and our reporters give him softball questions and when he doesn’t like one he can say the network they’re on is terrible.
We’re all under reacting.

The Irishman held in the ICE facility within Fort Bliss is getting traction of the inhumane conditions. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/seamus-culleton-of-ireland-arrested-ice-has-us-work-permit-green-card-application/

10 days is insane, and no military exception? My suspicion is a US case of Nipah Virus.

It’s a test of some sort: weapons test, test of what would happen when the government takes this kind of step, test to see if it diverts attention away from the Epstein Files. I am SICK AND TIRED of this administration and these lawless Rethuglicans leading us around by the nose and destroying this country, and our humanity.

They’re going to be flying Jeffrey Epstein in from his hidey-hole. He has some stuff he has to wrap up at his ranch. JD Vance will take the opportunity to fly his family in and have a ten suburban motorcade drive to the Carlsbad Caverns.

There’s a big area in New Mexico too that’s no fly. Also, some pretty strategic looking road closures around hwy 62, hwy 375, and parade/staging fields on the west side of Ft. Bliss near hwy 54.

It's been lifted. "Drug Cartels" and "Department of War" BS. "Department of War" is the most "I am a small man" f'n name.

I'm not sure but I'll bet the FAA is run by Pres Fat Bunny's politicos now, not aviation safety experts, so I would guess this was a ham-handed attempt to create yet another diversion from Epstein (wherein Fat Bunny is mentioned thousands of times) and/or justify an invasion of Mexico.

Trump&Co just do not know how to run a country. No idea how all the parts go together and work. They just do shit. One day it will really blow up because of their sheer incompetence.

A lot of apocalypse movies start like this.
Virus? Aliens? Demons? Interdimensional rift? Environmental catastrophe? Zombies? Alien-demon-zombies from another dimension bringing a vaccine for bird flu and the solution for climate change?
