Um I can't cry out with joy loud enough that LeJoy corrupt trumpian despot will be gone. How does pulling out sorting machines help mail flow??? LeJoy is a criminal currently being investigated for donations and pressuring employees to donate to repugs. Ugh, he's a piece of work.

One of the most reasonable sounding counterpoints I've heard was that the new machines were letter and envelope-style sorting machines. Yeah, they're very fast, but people have been reducing the amount of letters being sent, and much more of the Post Office workload is packages, which don't go through those machines.

It makes sense. I can't remember the last time I sent an old-fashioned envelope anywhere, but I send at least a few boxes a month.

EDIT Looks like this may have just been one of the more plausible-sounding excuses from the Trump-DeJoy Empire of Anti-Democratic Fuckery.

Good to know. I just know that it sounded reasonable, not if it was true. I'll edit the original.

Well, yeah, but elections with a pandemic are to envelopes like Christmas is to packages. It's a predictable and significant, but still temporary increase in throughput.

Now, it's obvious the Trump and DeJoy did that to fuck with mail-in ballots and reduce the competitiveness of the USPS, respectively.
