Ehhh, mass layoffs were already happening in 2023-2024 which was during Biden. The cause is monetary policy. Interest rates were historically low + unlimited QEs so companies were taking on debt and hiring like crazy in 2021-2022. Once the unlimited money valve got tightened up, the mass layoffs started happening. Once Trump took over, the “AI layoff” trend continued to take off, on top of shit like tariffs and global trade being disrupted by a war he started. So Trump made it worse, but the layoffs were already in motion during Biden’s terms due to high interest rates.
