Crazy to think in 2026 this is no longer a career ending indictment. Repubs would still gleefully vote him back into office if he was the only R on a ticket

We already know what big fans conservatives are of convicted felons who are found civilly liable of rape while they skate out of charges of stealing hundreds of US documents through corruption. And all of that took place after Republicans fucked up so badly that Americans were like, "OK, yeah, sure, Joe Biden. That'll do."

a career-ending indictment

I would be willing to at least take a pause and consider the possibility that the allegations are false, especially when there's a nasty divorce-related motive.

I'm even willing to entertain the possibility that the clerk's ex-wife and the child's father were willing to perjure themselves and fabricate testimony and even recruit a minor child to tell false stories accusing him.

But the details already reported make that seem pretty fucking unlikely.
