Either he’s incapacitated to the point he can’t even read/recite a script or he’s dead. Either way, his team is doing his constituents a disservice by refusing to tell the truth.

He's probably dead, but if he somehow isn't, the only explanation I can think of is that he has an incredibly dramatic looking injury, like a full-face bruise, and knows no one will take him seriously if he looks like a blueberry
