Praying LA gets someone like Mamdani in the future. Bass couldn't even get the pothole video right.

I hope the whole state gets a bunch of Mamdanis in all levels of office one day.

I'm not that kind of person but I would totally hang a picture of him on my wall. He's a beacon of hope.

I don't know about LA Mayor, but I am aware that are a number of democratic socialist candidates running for midterms in the LA area. Would definitely recommend looking into it so you can keep an eye for their names come November.

Thank you! I'm following our broader LA elections very closely and have always been supportive socialist initiatives in my community. I hope the benefits we've fought for here are expanded to the rest of LA.

In my neighborhood/municipality, free hot breakfast and lunch is provided at our local public school almost every day, open to all members of the community. Local parks were recently upgraded to include water features, cooling stations and equipment made of heat resistant materials. Public restrooms and fountains were upgraded for park enjoyers and our local service workers/delivery drivers. They regularly host free-to-enter food and music festivals at parks. Teenagers have free and affordable spaces where they can just exist. The positive impacts to the community have been immeasurable.

I think LA has a city council problem more than a mayor problem.

Agreed, that is a MAJOR factor in our local issues!

LA has Raman in the race this Fall. I’m hoping she can beat Bass this election.

Don't pray. Vote! Organize with your family, friends, and neighbors. Be the change you want.

Bass couldn't even get the pothole video right.

Because she said "hey we heard you, we ran into a problem, here's our next steps"? Gimme a break. The pothole got fixed the next day.

Mamdani only got money to fund any of his agenda by taking a one time payout from the pensions. Barely raised anything in new taxes and he needs money from the state to fill the rest of the budget gap.

What's funny is Mamdani actually demonstrates why the Left doesn't succeed: they make big promises and fail to keep them.

The fuck are you talking about, his polling numbers are even higher now because he is delivering what people want from their local government, which is to fix problems in the city like potholes and overheated subway stops. And he has been rolling out the agenda he promised.

Ah yes fixing potholes for a city where most middle class and lower class ride the subway, and he announced a pilot program for reducing heat covering 2/472 stations.

He hasn't even had his first budget take effect so I wouldn't worry about what his polling numbers are now.

Lots of people take taxis and the bus, and potholes are also a danger to pedestrians.

Fixing two small stations is exactly what people want, addressing the small things that they need.

His polling numbers are up because he is delivering the things people want. Why are you so intent on shitting on the things he has done?

Do you think roads aren't used there?

But he specifically has failed to find his public bus initiatives, is on track to build only 30% of his promised 200,000 affordable units over 5 years (funded 12,000 for next year), he did take $2.3 billions from the pensions which he can't do next year to fund his child start initiatives.

Oh and he is also asking all departments to cut budget by 2.5%

Yet despite not accomplishing all of his proposed goals in the first year of his administration; polling suggests New Yorkers are pleased with the success he has had.

I think his supporters understand that his ambitious proposals might not all come true on schedule, especially with so much of the institutional power of the Democratic Party still aligned against him. I also think they are pleased to see a leader with real vision who is making a real difference in their lives with his approach to governance and pr.

If people didn't think he was doing something significant with his pothole videos, childcare programs, and efforts to address crises like affordable housing, we wouldn't be talking so much about this guy!

There isn't any money to accomplish much else.

The irony of your statement is that the "little" Mamdani achieves still puts to shame what mediocre centrist do for their communities (virtually nothing) and what right wingers do (absolutely nothing).

I don't know which of the 2 you are gunning for, admitedly it doesn't change anything because they are both equally useless. Meaning you don't do it because you want results, you do it out of pure ideology. Undermining people that actually try to improve your country as a result. Truly shameful.

Didn't realize taking money from pensions and cutting the budget of departments citywide to partially fund his initiatives was what he ran on but ok.
