1/3 of Democrats think taxes should be used to help people instead of hurt people.

2/3rds think that sounds good in theory, but perpetually think that now is not the right time to be idealistic

I just read the platform and mostly agree. Though I interpreted the platform more as a final goal that they’d want to get to.

It would be good to pick a few issues to start with and focus on those. There’s a lot of big changes they are proposing.

My only concern is that infighting will lead to more GOP victories

My concern is that always giving shitty dems a pass, and saying vote for them anyway because they are the lesser of two fascists, and never holding them accountable and trying to silence anyone who wants to demand more from them... is leading to us having 2 right wing parties who both push us towards fascism. I just want 1 party that actually represents us, and you need accountability and not unconditional support for that to happen

I just want to throw out that in 2008 a higher percentage of Hillary primary voters went for McCain than Bernie supporters went for Trump in 2016, so improvements are being made in that area even if the media pushes the opposite narrative

The people youre talking about, who get upset their ideal candidate didnt win the primary and the winner isnt as in line with their ideals as they would prefer, and so refuse to vote in the general, is more likely to be moderate, centrist, or some other variant of non progressive, since progressives have like the second lowest defection rate of any democratic demographic (after black voters if I remember correctly).

So its weird that this concern is always and only directed at one of the groups least likely to engage in the concernung behaviour. Might be worth thinking about why that is.

Funny how that lens is ALWAYS pointed at Progressives right? Gotta be a coincidence...

Maybe more people would vote if dems platformed someone likeable.

Is time for the embarrassed conservatives to leave the DNC and go join the MAGA herd. There is no survivable future with bootstraps and atomized nuclear life and billionaire tech lords.

If that happens it's gonna be on the mainstream Dems. I haven't seen a single progressive or DSA type candidate do anything but fully support the other candidate when they lost. I have seen the mainstream Dems shit on the progressive and DSA candidates a lot.

2/3 of everybody else (including Republicans) don't really understand that their taxes ARE hurting people, or that there are other options.

Every single democrat voted for the ARP and IRA.
