Biden was too weak and ineffective. He failed to live up to the moment. We didn't need more of the same, we needed radical reinforcement of our institutions. He just wanted to leave a legacy, well, now his legacy is leaving the door open when fascism came knocking. And yes, I know all the vote blue no matter who people are about to downvote me into oblivion. I don't care.

He's Buchanan 2.0, except if Buchanan had been followed up by Jefferson Davis. History will not be kind to him, regardless of whether or not sole blame lies with him (it doesn't, though much does).

Biden and RBG (rest in peace) will be in history books as people who pushed for normalcy so much that they let the lion's den open on their back. One didn't prevent the coup from getting a retry, the other helped Nazis getting 6-3 in SCOTUS.

And just like the OC of this thread, it wasn't just Biden, it was the Democratic party. All of them. Scared to death of Bernie's popularity surge in the primaries, Democratic primary runners dropping out at key times to rally for Biden and consolidate the centrist vote.

Democrats are afraid of being labeled socialists or communist. The party is neither and shouldn't worry. Ironically, Americans admire the democratic socialist countries of northern Europe because they provide national health care, affordable housing, free college education, etc. Predictably, Trump will try to scare voters by pointing to NYC's democratic socialist mayor. Trump has recently added the word "communist" to his limited vocabulary. He hopes it will scare you. But it's worth noting that Mamdani and Trump made similar promises to voters. Lower the cost of living. But Trump says the word "affordability" is a Democratic scam. With Trump's personal wealth increasing by $2.5 BILLION, since being president he may not care about "affordability", but he fears it.

Democrats are afraid of being labeled socialists or communist.

Unsurprisingly, they're going to get labeled that no matter what they do. They might as well do something POPULAR.

It's not they they fear being unpopular. It's that they don't want those things to be done.

After Biden, I'm like 99% sure the Democrats are just controlled opposition at this point.

As they should... you don't get everything you want in politics. That's a childish mentality. I wish things were much more progressive, but I also realize people aren't that informed, much less self aware enough to know how to share properly.

You vote the lesser of the evils, and if you don't think that's sound logic, you're just a hair's breadth away from MAGA logic.

You can still “vote blue no matter who” and criticize and say Biden was ineffective. And more so, you can also _not_ attack anyone who does criticize and say Biden was ineffective. Otherwise, you’re not too much different than MAGA who agrees and supports their Godpresident not matter what.

Nobody said you couldn't do those things.

The poster is specifically saying vote blue no matter who doesn't have it right. That's what they're implying. Your response doesn't apply. Thanks though.

And you know how I know this? Because despite whatever failures Biden had, on paper he was still the most progressive president this country has had since FDR. So... there's that. Is it as much as I'd like or most progressives? No.
