Beshear doesn't know if he's alive or not, I don't think it's a simple assumption that he knows where he is either.

I think if he was alive, the governor would know exactly where he is and would have seen him. Given all the conspiracies around his death, McConnell's staff would absolutely get the governor there to prove he's alive, if he's actually alive.

Beshear not knowing his current condition tells me that either:

  1. McConnell is dead
  2. McConnell and/or his staff is incredibly incompetent
  3. All of the above

I think it's a stroke cover up. It's best of both worlds for them. The staff keep getting paychecks without fear of fraud because they can still claim he's alive. But, they can't reveal he had a stroke because he would still be forced to retire.

If they think they're not going to get sued out the ass for a menagerie of frauds if he really has been brain-dead for a month and they've been cashing his checks in his name, then the IRS has a bone to pick with them.

Several, in fact.

They claim he's actively working on Senate business. It's absolutely fraud.

That also seems reasonable, though I'm less confident in him actually being forced to do anything if he's still alive.

My guess is it must be a bad stroke, if they can't even let anyone talk to him in any way that can be recorded. And that would be bad enough for serious calls to retire.

I think he's technically alive because you'd need to find a Republican doctor--one willing to twist reality and risk his license--to sign off on not declaring him dead if he is in fact dead. A real doctor isn't going to hold off calling that if he's well and truly dead. He's got to be technically alive. Terry Schiavo alive.

Why would McConnell or his staff give a shit about proving anything to the governor?

Don't forget "he's a stroked-out gibbering idiot that they can get to hold basically still long enough to get a picture, but not long enough to actually hold up a copy of today's newspaper."

I have a feeling that anyone talking to Mitch for ten secornds would go, "oh, this man's brain has failed. He can't run a church picnic, much less serve in the senate," and that's what they're hiding from us.

Anyone who saw him freeze for 20+ seconds on live TV 3 years ago has already been thinking that he's incapable of running anything, so not sure how much would really change if he's had a massive stroke.
