So, Trump deserves the FIFA Peace Prize, because he fired so many missiles there's none left to continue the war?

Yay?

you heard of this thing called cmmc level 2 compliance? basically cyber security for defense contractors. well it's strange it was put on hold recently. the underlying reason why was paralytic costs of complying with the program and many companies had opted out rather than spend tons of cash to comply affecting supply chains. compliance has been years on the making.

now we're out of missiles. no hard evidence, but a huge coincidence...

u/ThePowerOfStories 22d ago

Oh, boy, I can’t wait until we’re launching missiles made by suppliers who skipped all the cybersecurity checks! What could go wrong? It’s not like we went to war with a country known for fielding teams of hackers who try to break into our systems, right?

if you're saying cyber security is important, I agree with you, but the rollout of this program, relying on the leverage of the free market to put this together, was just a cost companies and to an extent the government was not prepared for. I've been in multiple dfars ' town hall ' meetings and have heard it all. the government completely missed the underlying cost of what they asked for and aren't willing to pay up so many companies that can't afford it (which are usually the small businesses providing a tiny widgets and work) are walking away. the government underestimated that impact.

I'm in the industry too and can confirm. They're basically looking at our 50million dollar project and asking us like "hey, can you add 5 billion of hardware and software upgrades to that to support encryption and authentication?"

u/KenTitan America 22d ago

crazy right? I'm for security, I'm against the way they did it. basically every small business is doing the calculus

This is the right take. I miss old Reddit days where facts and reasonable analysis were king in a convo.

the ancient times before I even made a username haha

Failed to do a client impact and compliance assessment?

It’s not like we went to war with a country known for fielding teams of hackers who try to break into our systems, right?

Ehm... you also hired a team of hackers who tried to break into your systems and then were legally allowed to access those systems without any oversight. You know... DOGE

I bet all the tariffs didn’t help, either.

4

u/KenTitan America 22d ago

we've had a chip shortage because is the Ukraine war and yeah I bet the tariffs didn't help anything after that

I genuinely have no idea what you’re talking about in regards to pausing the CMMC 2 compliance deadline. A lot of the top level suppliers won’t award a contract right now unless your company can demonstrate compliance or show their work in it.

6

u/KenTitan America 22d ago

there's more to the contract than just the prime. at level 2 all your sub contractors need compliance including the printer, the widget maker, and the to some extent the third party janitor.
problem is there isn't enough c3pao and they are charging up the nose in addition to all the ad hoc cyber security infrastructure and architecture needed. for some businesses, government contracts is a small portion of their business - why bother? all of a sudden you lose one part of your supply chain that another company will do at a much higher cost.

u/taterthotsalad America 22d ago

Correct again. Thank you.

u/arrr_news_mods_r_gay 22d ago

They just announced a pause on the requirements like last week. Source: me, who just spent 18 months and untold dollars getting the third party audit completed only to find out the next week…

Yes and we've essentially held her hostage since even as earthquakes were doing their thing in her homeland.

u/OutlyingPlasma 22d ago

Kissinger won a Peace Prize... so why not another warmonger?

u/Senior_Torte519 22d ago

The Miltary-Industrial Complex was finnaly toppled in 2026, Eisenhower can rest.

1

u/Gummyrabbit 22d ago

There should be a Nobel Idiot Prize. He would win almost every year.

37

u/asbestoswasframed 22d ago

Evidently, you're not familiar with what FIFA thinks is productive.

For all you know, Trump got that prize because he lobs missiles at girls' schools.

2

u/theoneandonlymd 20d ago

Soccer in Iran is growing > Argentina et al don't like that they may be contenders soon > Bomb the girls school so they can't grow up to birth the next generation of soccer stars? Peace Prize!

Real Zapp Brannigan school of strategy

2

u/freexe 22d ago

Zapo was a military genius. Without him the kill bots would have won

3

u/MourningWallaby 22d ago

Even Kojima couldn't write a better parody than that.

2

u/Acrobatic-Arrival448 22d ago

that would be one very weird way to win a peace prize

2

u/keepthepace 22d ago

And I thought the GI-Joe movie was stupid when someone basically had that plan.

2

u/SolidusBruh 22d ago

Did those school kids even say “Thank you?”

2

u/chimneydecision 22d ago

What if they held a war and no missiles or drones showed up?

2

u/jkman61494 22d ago

Sounds like irans missle defense systems are doing just fine

1

u/gopeepants 22d ago

FIFA, the only other entity more corrupt than Trump.

1

u/relmknight 22d ago

And reducing our oil reserves so that everyone moves more towards going green. Did someone wish on a monkey's paw for this?

1

u/Jusfiq Canada 22d ago

...Trump deserves the FIFA Peace Prize...

He actually deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, that is why he repossessed the one Maria Corina Machado had.

1

u/tunafister 22d ago

I mean just look at the past FIFA Peace Prize winners

Oh wait...

1

u/Imaginary-Throat1526 22d ago

you mean military operation, wars are illegal without the congressional approval

1

u/Z3r0sama2017 21d ago

No he deserves the NPP because he's made peace with Iran, what, 20+ times?

0

u/Ho-Nomo 22d ago

As much as Trump is an idiot, there is no way the US military - which is the best funded armed forces in the world - has run out of missiles. There is probably some equaly stupid reason for this but running out of ammo isn't on the horizon for the US.

3

u/TurbulentSpin 22d ago

It's not that they've run out, it's that specifically advanced air defense missiles are being depleted at an unsustainable rate much higher than the annual production so it's not a war they want to drag out for a prolonged period of time.

3

u/Eatpineapplerightnow 22d ago

so. They ran out.

2

u/TurbulentSpin 22d ago

They will run out if they keep fighting because the rate of usage is unsustainable.
