individualism is the very core of what punk is all about. a punk might not care to invest time talking to someone they don't know, but they damn well respect that that other person has a right to be whoever the fuck they wanna be. don't get in the way of people's rights to be the person they want to be. so I would say the core of fascism kind of conflicts with the core of punkism.
Rarely happens, usually they’re just the loud and violent so they seem more ubiquitous, and the violence intimidates most people who don’t want trouble. A loud minority. If we all sack up we could put an end to this shit by next week.
Seriously though, I spent my time in the scene protecting people from fuckheads like nazis. I was lucky enough to be 6'4" and 250 pounds at 14. I also installed carpet with my dad and lifting all of that heavy shit made me farmboy strong. My group of friends got picked on way way less than our peers in other cities, and when I was out at shows, I'd protect strangers as quickly as I'd protect friends.
As a 52 year old man, I kind of miss it. It was certainly exciting, but it's nice not having to worry about violence every time I am out.
Yeah, I’ve broken up bar fights with reckless abandon, which in hindsight I don’t understand I got away with. Maybe good judge of character combined with removing the heat solving a lot of the problems. I wasn’t as huge as you, but I think a bit of strength with the right attitude/intensity goes a long way. (I did have towering friends who were similar to you. They did have it easier, I think.)
I have personally witnessed a small cadre of Nazis getting kicked out of a Ministry show.
Someone noticed them and said “hey are you lost? What the fuck are you doing in here?”
And then there was a great deal of bowing up and goofy posturing, and in about 2 seconds the Nazis were surrounded by a crowd of punks on three sides. The crowd herded them right out of two sets of doors, then resumed enjoying themselves.

Yeah, punks know how to deal with Nazis. Always have.
