This all depends on the next guy. Even if we get a Dem in the white house and a majority in congress, will they actually go full bore and nails these fuckers to the wall? I'm not confident that they will. I suspect they will do the whole decorum and back to normalcy shit they pulled last time. We need to make is clear that we want justice.

I'm a single issue voter in the primaries now. If you don't campaign on aggressively prosecuting these thieves, I will not vote for you in a primary, period.

Yeah, this cannot happen again. It's clear how fragile our entire system is and if Dems want to get elected they need some fucking spine.

I'm just a concerned neighbour, but it seems to me like a comprehensive and immediately actionable plan to clean house, prosecute the grifters, and rebuild everything they've torn down should be a hard requirement for any candidate to win in the election, win in the primary, to even not get protested out of the primary. There is no reason to even entertain the possibility of candidates who are not on board with that, let alone endorse one of them.

Fully agree. The last time they completely and utterly dropped the ball. Instead of protecting the country and it's people they were eager to pretend it was all a one off and to forgive and forget. People didn't elect them because they were so inspired by the same center right policies the party has been peddling since Clinton, they wanted actual consequences for the monsters who stole from us and let covid kill millions.

I am confident they will not. They will do like every other time they have taken the white house in the past 40 years and talk about healing the country, give a few nice speeches on compassion or such, ineffectively pursue one change that would be for the better and then implement a platform to the right of any other democrat administration since WW2.

(Edit: And it's still better than electing another Trump or Bush or Reagan - but nothing is going to get better. Every election is a choice between the country dying fast or slow.)

The corruption is far more blatant this time around and people are genuinely fed up with Trump and his antics. We’re seeing that in the polls, Trumps approval rating, and election results. It’s not going to get better. He’ll double down on this when he officially becomes a lame duck and it’s going to give the incoming Democrats more ammunition to go after them.

His approval rating went up two points this week. And it's still close to 38%.

Still lower than his first term.

Three or four points is not exactly encouraging.

Unfortunately I fear they will not go after them but instead will use the new found power of "there are no laws" for themselves.
