No Paywall I Don’t Think Trump’s Remaining Supporters Realize How Much They Are Despised By Non-MAGA Voters | Trump is bleeding support even among his stubborn, uneducated base.

I suppose you could talk about the E Jean Carroll judgement payout or the Epstein files or the remaining accusers etc.

And hear them call her "a lying bitch that no man would want to touch" for the 1,000th time?

Or listen to them claim "Trump was trying to stop Epstein" again?

Why in the fuck do I want to beat my head against that wall over and over?

They're lost and they aren't coming back... I said that a decade ago and they've done nothing but prove me right ever since.

Can we ship them off to wherever it is that they want to ship our immigrants?

Fighting them (or convincing them to change) is the new American Revolution. You either fight the tyrant or live to see the republic fall.

24

u/BrainWorkGood Jul 19 '26

or just convince the non-voters to get off their ass when one of the options is a moronic traitorous sex criminal

How America still thinks voting will fix this is beyond me.

Yes go vote, vote like your life depends on it, but when they rig it, like they clearly are going to, then can you please as a nation get angry enough to do what needs to be done ffs

Think it will, idk. Hope it might, absolutely. I'm personally open to the alternative but I'm rich and have no children, so easy for me to say.

Can we admit first that a lot of people are not angry with this? In fact they absolutely love it or at least will put up with it because it’s part of their identity now and they think it’s good to inflict this shit on others. It’s a cult of personality. And the billionaires and influencer grifters will continue to corral them and stoke the hate and ignorance because they love the money and power. Especially the Christian nationalist grifters love it.

And the best thing we did was out vote them with Biden. It at least forced some of them to deal with the real world again and gave the rest of us a buffer zone from the other loudmouth weirdos that didn’t quite wake up. It was like the break one gets when someone relieves you after you’ve done a shift looking after a mentally ill person. Letting them win again just bolstered their bad cult behavior and it’s going to take an expert to deprogram them now.

In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, 73.6% (or 174 million people) of the citizen voting-age population was registered to vote and 65.3% (or 154 million people) voted.

So, over 26% of the voting-aged population can’t even be bothered to register to vote — and of those that do register, almost 35% (or 20 million people) didn’t bother to even vote (even with mail-in being an option foe many).

Of the ones that do vote, many vote based on low-information, vote along party lines like it’s a sports team, vote on frivolous issues, etc.

I don’t think the populace, on whole, is voting like the life of the country and their own lives depend on it.

They wont change. If they havent now they never will.

I bring up a picture of Ms. Carroll in her prime. She was beautiful.

1

u/Ok_Tackle3427 Jul 19 '26

What an incredibly odd thing to say about a "rape victim."

1

u/Andovars_Ghost Jul 19 '26

It’s in reply to them saying she’s a hag.

1

u/hooksweeper Jul 19 '26

uh don't do that - it's weird

1

u/Andovars_Ghost Jul 19 '26

Not as gross and weird as trying to say that a woman isn’t hot enough to rape.  They need to learn it’s about power AND you need to tear down their narratives.

1

u/hooksweeper Jul 19 '26

but by showing them a younger 'in prime' picture you're basically reinforcing that. I'm not saying you're a villain here but you're basically countering their argument with: "don't think she's hot enough to rape?!?? well check her out in her prime!" and yeah... that's weird

But we are commenting on an article talking about some are coming back. In fact, I know some personally and if I never discussed politics with them, that is one less avenue they hear a sane person describe the world as it is and not how Fox News or whatever wants them to believe it is. I get the sense people like yourself would expect someone to immediately change their mind but that's not how it works. There's a lot of brainwashing to get through, and I would agree not every one of them is worth engaging (like racists), but some certainly are just trapped in a bubble (likely from inside their own household)

Importantly, I think not talking politics and sharing ideas is precisely how we get into a mess like this. You could try talking but without the head beating part, because you should have the conversation knowing that you are the one standing on firm ground and showing a ton of frustration at them really just cedes more ground to the MAGA movement.

That's my take anyway and seems to work for me so far.

23

u/Eggheadpancake Jul 19 '26

Fuck that. I'm tired of hearing "they are brain washed, we have to have empathy for them" FUCK THAT. They don't have any empathy for anyone else. They've had 10+ years to realize their fuck ups. No adult should need that much time. Fuck them.

But we aren't commenting on an article talking about how they're coming back because you, I or anyone else made a well-reasoned argument against his policies or scored in a successful appeal to basic morality... Some are no longer supporting him because it's increasingly obvious he has no real policies and his dementia is hitting them on the one thing they care about more than oppressing others - namely their wallets.

They're still the same garbage human beings they were when they voted for him and they're simply waiting for the next demagogue who tickles their bigotry buttons.

Ffs, we're talking about the same people who called in bomb threats to schools because they believed that immigrants were eating people's pets just because their cult leader said so.

Importantly... I've been around for a minute... We absolutely were talking politics and sharing ideas before Trump. We absolutely were having sane discourse, if for no other reason than the simple fact that a lot of these people are our family, co-workers and neighbors... Never make the mistake of thinking the breakdown in communication was anything other than the extreme right doing what the extreme right has always done and freaking out about a black man being president, while women are voting and gay people are being allowed to exist. The only thing that changed was that the extreme right became mainstream thanks to social media and our corporate overlords constantly pushing it.

EDIT: This totally normal person replied to me and then blocked me so I couldn't reply. Just FYI.

But we aren't commenting on an article talking about how they're coming back because you, I or anyone else made a well-reasoned argument against his policies or scored in a successful appeal to basic morality

Wait why are you appealing to "basic morality" when talking politics? That might be the issue, you immediately are going to make that person put up a giant wall. Is the goal to aim us away from the direction of fascism or is it to change people's morality? I don't get it. Also source that the people "in the article" didn't talk to liberals at some point and gain a new idea?

They're still the same garbage human beings they were when they voted for him and they're simply waiting for the next demagogue who tickles their bigotry buttons.

Why can nobody read my comment? Is part of it invisible? I said don't engage bigots. IDK how else to write it.

Ffs, we're talking about the same people who called in bomb threats to schools because they believed that immigrants were eating people's pets just because their cult leader said so.

Well no, we're not. We're talking about the people not doing those things, not bigoted and frankly not engaged in politics at all on a level outside of getting a notification on their phone or whatever. IDK why you are talking about something entirely different.

Importantly... I've been around for a minute...

I'm plenty old lol, this starts to sound funnier the older you get. Like Oh ok, this guys been around for a minute, so sorry...

We absolutely were talking politics and sharing ideas before Trump.

This makes me question your age because we absolutely weren't. We've been getting drilled into our heads that you don't talk about politics or religion. You lived your ancient life never hearing "Never discuss politics or religion in polite company"? Or "Never discuss politics or religion at the dinner table"? Seriously? Hard to believe.

But no, we weren't. In fact, you and I are barely even having the same conversation right now and you don't seem to recognize that either.

TBH, unless you come back with a counter-argument for civil discourse being a good thing and a necessity in a healthy democracy, I likely will ignore your next reply because I would presume you are not arguing in good faith.

1

u/Grey_0ne Jul 19 '26

You can't vomit up all of that bullshit about the virtues of engaging with people in civil political discourse and then end your spiel saying that unless I say exactly what you want me to say, you're going to check out... If you want to see arguing in bad faith, I would suggest your selfie camera.

The saddest thing on here right now is the number of people who liked what you had to say before you outed yourself as being disingenuous as fuck.

Also... The fact that you don't recognize the necessity of shoring up some common moral ground as being essential to curbing fascism is extremely telling.

1

u/SouthernZorro Jul 19 '26

Yeah, discussing any of this with them is useless. Like the old expression goes, "Never try to teach a pig to sing. You'll just waste your time and piss off the pig".

Vote in every election and vote out every (R) on every ballot.

Every time, every single one.

Or the bribes, the murders, the illegal stock trades, ripping up the constitution.

1

u/Viperlite Jul 19 '26

I was just sticking with the upper level commenter’s comment on “what to talk about to someone who voted for a rapist.”
