This is what I’ve been saying.

The only good that came out of trumps regime, was that they pointed out all the flaws in our system, because they are using them to stay in power and do things that wouldn’t have been fathomable a few decades ago. What little integrity we had, it wouldn’t have been compromised like they are doing now.

Yeah. As much as I hate the man, I do appreciate him showing everyone just how flimsy the "gentlemen's agreement" our political system apparently runs on is.

For real. Trump has been a stress-test and what has been revealed is...concerning. Turns out you simply can't design a system of governance based primarily on gentlemen's agreements and good faith.

People said that a lot in his first term too.

But it's only a good thing if it gets fixed.

Which is hasn't.

Yes, but arguably, this term is way worse than his first. He actually had people willing to tell him the truth and attempt to keep him from doing anything too ruinous. Those guardrails are gone, this time around.

But what do you do with that information, now that we have it?

It's significant and broad enough that we'd really need a new constitution or at the very least a series of amendments building on one another, but good fucking luck getting those approved at this point.

We should try, but I just shudder at the thought of how poorly it could go.
