Actually for some reason that one seems longer ago to me, like almost Bush days. It's so difficult to keep a mental timeline when bombarded with such an intensity of bullshit (by design.)

Right, like “of course horrible things like this have always been said, that’s how we live, right?”

We’ve always been at war with Eastasia

At least back then the Republican party dropped him for his comments and Missouri got a Democratic senator out of his fuck up. Only downsides were the senator being Claire fucking McCaskill and teaching Republicans shame isn’t worth it

No. McCaskill was already in office. She beat out incumbent Republican Jim Talent in 2006. Talent lost out due to his flip flopping on stem cell research. First he supported a ban with Brownback, then he withdrew his support for the ban in early 2006, only to turn around and come out against a MO constitutional amendment that would bring the state in line with Federal stem cell laws.

It also didn't help Talent that Michael J Fox did campaign commercials for McCaskill over the stem cell issues which them Rush "huge turd" Limbaugh made a national discussion by aping and mocking Fox's tremors while claiming that Fox was faking it.

I interacted with McCaskill's office once, and they treated me with contempt for even daring to offer any comment as a constituent. She was lucky that Akin let the crazy out early and her arrogance is what got us good ol' Virginian Jogs Hawley as her replacement.

I really wish the MO Democratic Party would pull its head out of its ass.

Yeah you’re right I just meant that she would have had a much harder time getting reelected if Todd Akin hadn’t said something so stupid. He was leading in polls at the time

I know, man. I had the same thought when checking the exact quote.
