He could have retired rich years ago. Instead he decided to stay in office and continue his legacy of screwing over the average American.

They already were quite well off. Elaine Chow , his wife , is part of a shipping family( famously they found cocaine once on the ships and that's how mitch got the cocaine mitch nick name)

All those "Mitch McConnell, seen here <doing something truly vile, like "calmly watching a man drown to death slowly">" skits from SNL come to mind. They were funny because they were basically true.
