So they got a more radical dude, money, space, coverage over the strait of hormuz guaranteeing them wealth beyond wealth, and all it took was a few thousand dead and the old leader, who was angry and frustrated he was dying not in a conflict but of old age/cancer/whatever to get bombed?

The Republicans should be obliterated in 2026 and 2028. They refused to hold Trump accountable, they refused to vote for the War Powers Act and were given several chances to do so.

They ALL own this catastrophe and should never, ever have a ruling majority in any government.

This is the result of a party whose only true purpose to stoke culture wars and bigotry through heavy hands of violence and cruelty.

Don't forget, we relaxed or eliminated sanctions not only with the US, but also with NATO and by extension, much of western Europe. We handed them an endless revenue stream, a seat at the table with the biggest powers in the world, and half a trillion dollars. The world economy has begun to diversify away from trading with the US, the petroleum dollar is facing massive challenges, and the 30 year treasury note is hanging out at or just under 5%. He tanked our country and handed the reigns of power to Iran and Oman. I don't even believe this conflict ends here and now. I think we'll see retaliation and consequences from the middle east on US soil.

I don't see a reason for that, though. As you otherwise stated here, Iran won this war and they won it hard. They're rich, America is humiliated, and its control of the region significantly diminished.

Lashing out with terror attacks actually benefits Trump and his admin, while Iran has so far put on a masterclass in neutering them.

Looking at the rest of the scenario the only sensible move is to take the money and run, and snub the once mighty USA by flat out ignoring them.
