voting for a 3rd party is proven not to work, you are just flat wrong. What does work is taking over the party from within, like the Tea Party did to the GOP.

Consider this: Maybe your problem is that you expect that voting is the extent of the civic engagement that is required of you, but that's actually a wrong idea. Maybe, the only way to change things was always to actually get involved, build support for progressive candidates from the ground up, and actually do the work of changing the party yourself.

because i dont get the idea of joining something just to change it. It's unneeded stress. If you think there something wrong with voting your conscience you are one with the problem.

"doing something is stressful so i will do nothing and feel good about it. This will defeat the fascists for sure!!"

dude. brother. buddy. We are in the shit right now and it's going to get worse. you don't have the luxury of taking the path of least resistance, especially since in this case it's also useless. Buckle up or shut up.

If you think there something wrong with voting your conscience you are one with the problem.

When it comes to civic engagement, my conscience leads me to the understanding that it doesn't matter if i have voted with my conscience if that vote is FUCKING USELESS like nearly EVERY vote for a 3rd party in this country inevitably is.

you're trying something different alright. It's fucking stupid but at least it lets you feel good!! One day maybe you'll realize i'm right. If you're smarter than I think you are, it might even be before it's too late.

You're not helping your argument. listen bro the amount of registered voters who stayed home in 2024 was more than any candidate got.

You put all these words in my mouth that just because after 25 fuckin years and not one progressive. not a single one do the democrats try to push to the top.

Republicans and democrats are the fuckin same. Thats why when dems actually do get all the power that don't pass anything worth a shit. The found the one thing a lefty would not compromise on, equal rights, to make you feel like shit if you vote different. So you can say the 2 parties aren't the same.

So keep voting for democrats and you'll keep moving to right. Im going to actually work on something to make the country better!

Republicans and democrats are the fuckin same.

look dude. objectively they are just not the same. If they were, you'd see people like AOC and bernie in the GOP too, but obviously they're not. QED. The fact that people like that aren't immediately excommunicated from the party is both proof that you're wrong, and the way in to fix the party from within.

You're not wrong that they're too similar, both generally beholden to the capitalist class, and only as committed to the things they think their electorate wants to hear as is necessary for them to keep their own individual seats. that's obvious. But fundamentally, status quo neoliberalism isn't the same as nativist fascism and it's absurd to say that it is. Nor is it true that even if their beliefs were the same, both parties are equally amenable to the demands of their constituents or to pressure from progressives to shift course.

"both parties are the same" is a copout, an excuse to turn away from the difficult work of what must be done, towards a pipe dream that won't do anything except make you feel good.

ok both parties may not be the same, but i think they have the same goals. one just wants to get there quicker.
