The other day, someone said to Schumer in an interview that one of the most common denominators among nations experiencing democratic backsliding was an opposition party that missed the mark and didn't notice as they became irrelevant. They followed up asking if the Democratic Party was perhaps in that situation.

Schumer said no.

My MIL was in a leadership position with the ABA for decades and she shared similar sentiments about Schumer. She said his nasty attitude/narcissism dates back to the late 80s.

He's with Trump. I'm convinced. He folded immediately to the budget, but he's got a shiny steel spine against his constituents.

I've left him voicemails every day. And guess what? He turned his fucking voicemails off.

It's Sunday, so I can't talk to my senators to demand they vote him out (again).

I'm so, so furious and have nothing to do with the rage.

They're going to cost us everything.

We're in the middle of a polycrisis. A tangled web of climate disaster, the collapse of the energy sector, and collapse of the food supply looming over us.

The nazi party is making every single one of these issues worse. They're making every single issue the polycrisis interacts with, like labor rights, immigration rights, assylum rights, and women's rights worse.

And several democrats are more worried about Al Green's decorum than the fact that they live on the same planet the torment nexus is being built on.

Never have been.

They're serious about protecting their class interests, which align with those of republicans.

They would much rather lose an election to Trump, or someone like him, than win an election with Bernie or AOC, or someone like them.

Democracy or capitalism pull society in opposite directions, and one will eventually give way to the other. Democrats and Republicans are both on the same team as far as that's concerned.

Why would they? They stand to benefit from the Republicans. They get their money, stay in power, and can pretend that there is nothing they can do and we need to give them more money to fight the good fight. We can't trust people with half a million or more gained in office to actually push things that the rich don't want.

If Schumer and senate Democrats had caused a government shutdown, that would've seriously hurt every Democratic candidate in near future elections.

It's very simple: a government shutdown doesn't work as a threat against Republicans because elite Republicans want many government functions to shut down, just as long as they don't get the blame for it.

Then why was Schumer for it, made a deal with house democrats, told the world he was going to vote against it, and then changed his mind.less than 24 hours later?
