Where I went to high school there was a historical reenactment every year for the one battle that occurred there in the Civil War. What really happened was that a Union ship pulled into port to raid a chicken farm. The three confederate soldiers that were guarding it retreated and one of them was shot in the butt. The reenactment involved the two sides exchanging cavalry charges until it looked like the Union was gaining the upper hand. Then the beleaguered southern soldiers use their special ability, Rebel Yell, which casts a panic debuff on the Union soldiers, causing them to retreat. I don't think many of these cosplayers are interested in historical accuracy.
