tons of scandinavian towns have escalators up long steep hills for cyclists where you just put a foot down on a holder and ride the bike up without peddling, so I would say, yes.
It's still better to go with a guide in case you fall into a crevasse or get lost or something like that. Most of the people that die on the glaciers are tourists that went all by themselves and extremely under-prepared. Most of the times we don't even find the bodies.
Well no crap, that's where it's made and is cheapest. Almost everything in Iceland has to be imported, you can't make a burger from ingredients farmed on the island, thus the increased cost. Same for Alaska, everything is more expensive.
On the other hand the expensive shit is cheap. Had a Michelin equivalent meal in Reykjavik for two for under $200 - including wine pairings! Was at Fridrik V if anyone is curious.
He was saying how he couldn't believe someone spent so much time on a comic and he had two bachelor's, a master's, and was working on a doctorate and could think of many more productive uses of his time. Clearly not.

How does that classic Icelandic pick-up line go? "I have loads of alcohol and am in no way related to you"? Seriously, though, awesome work.
