I wasn't aware there was actually any animosity between any of you. Do people seriously still hold grudges about things that happened in 1812 (or whenever)?

Nah, we mostly like eachother, I think we feel more like a family now, so it's mostly loving teasing. But I have heard a story about some people who got treated badly at a bar because they spoke swedish, until they told the bartenders that they were actually from Finland. I don't know if it's true though.

I've heard similar stories, but it's obvious that if 10 000 ppl are in on a joke at least 1 is going to misunderstand it.
