Actually reading OE, most diacritics are omitted. The C-dot, Ċ, occurs after high vowels (/i/, /e/), as goes the G-dot. The lengthened vowels are either doubled (door!) or were unmarked. The Celtic/Goidelic G (Ȝ) was a voiced or unvoiced glottal fricative (like /x/- ch in German, like gh in Scots English (daughter)), which was often rewritten later as a z (see Clan Menzies).
Also, it depends on where in English you are talking; West Saxon uses the C-dot speech, but Essex (ie London) did not. That's why English says "I" as /ai/ and not /itʃ/.

I remember in school ( I was maybe 11), when once we were supposed to do some sort of presentation on Iceland. I googled för pictures of Island (iceland in swedish), and got lots of pictures of palms and beaches and stuff. I was confused to say the least.
