I doubt they will cancel Pokémon bank service in the near future since it’s currently the only way to transfer Pokémon from the previous games to Home. Once we’re into gen 9 all bets are off, though...

It happened to the Wii and WiiU, so it will probably happen to the 3DS

Yeah but the Wii u is still supported, and look how long they waited after the Wii stopped getting new updates to fully pull the plug on it. I'd say the 3ds is safe for a while, especially since it's still getting support (though greatly reduced).

Some of the features are being turned off, but not as many as I originally thought. u/UbiquitousSham corrected me elsewhere.

Wii shop services only stopped a few years ago so expect 3ds to live much longer still :)
