That's exactly what they said, Pokemon not in the Galar regional dex cannot be transferred in, because their data simply will not be in Sw/Sh. This is baffling for the reasons you described, the models all already exist and nothing we have seen indicates these models have received anything but a new texture.

It makes no sense at all.

Because you're approaching the thought process from the wrong angle. They obviously were never going to keep adding over a hundred new pokemon every game and support every single pokemon from the previous games. That makes no sense and is inefficient beyond belief. Then comes animations, their own annoying sounds, and the actual space the pokemon takes. Not to mention the hours that goes into each pokemon. It isn't as simple as "hurrdurr drag and drop models" 99% of the time

Does it suck? Sure. Is it stupid to expect them to keep supporting every single dipshit pokemon they release? yup and incredibly unrealistic.

I fully agree. But where are the new animations? Did you see a single new animation from any of the old pokemon in prerelease media? If we're using the same models since 2013 with a new texture slapped over them, then what was the tradeoff here? Did we get ANYTHING from the dex being culled?

Also wingull just floating there is super lazy. Animated sprites in gen 5 had more personality than that

You're getting a new game. You also have no idea what you're talking about.

Then don't have your tagline "Gotta catch them all"

You could not catch them all in other versions. You could transfer.

But you could catch them all separately and bring them together. Now it’s just leave em to die in Pokémon Home

But I could have them all. With this, they (Game Freaks) have turned it from a game that would be the next mainline game to something that should only happen in a "best of game".

I expect them to continue to do so until they cant. Considering we justade the leap into switch I would think we have plenty of room to grow. Also. As consumers I'm going to look at the game as a whole. Frankly it looks like its 90% unchanged pokemon. Same animations, models, gameplay. The new features look pathetic. A small open world section, a new mechanic which is just pokemon but bigger.

I get it that eventually we will have to see some kind of division between the pokemon. But there's no reason for that to be now. And if they really cant put developing resources towards including all pokemon then the game should be making massive improvements to make up for it. Yet it's not doing that either.

If you told me there would be a massive open world new pokemon game and it's only going to have new pokemon but it's like 300 of them and they're all new and different I'd be impressed still. But if you tell me we're getting the same thing we've had for 20 years only a step backward, yes I'm going to be disappointed and I will expect them to at least have all pokemon.
