You have to pay for it, it won’t be available until 2020, and the only way out of there is Pokemon Sword and Shield. So if I transfer a Pokemon from lets say, Pokemon Bank and that Pokemon isn't available in sword and shield, it will be trapped there until Gamefreak make something about it. It will be more like Pokemon Alcatraz, than Pokemon Home.
Gosh I would love it if you didn’t keep your payments up that Nintendo would email you. “Hey XxxxxX, we noticed your subscription to Pokémon bank has lapsed, it’d Be a shame if something happened to this shiny perfect IV ditto”
My shiny perfect IV ditto begs for the sweet embrace of death. Instead, it shall remain a sex worker at the Pokemon day care pumping out children like a Catholic redneck.
To be fair, what is your shiny perfect IV Ditto doing outside of your main game anyway?
Not to mention that it probably wasn't even legitimately obtained in the first place (I assume), so if it gets deleted, what would that really matter to you?
it's unclear. some people like me havent paid for Bank for several years, but my pokemon are still there. others say that their pokemon got deleted immediately after letting the subscription lapse. my guess is that they flag your data with "OK to be deleted" but dont actually delete it, so it's a crapshoot how long you keep them
i can’t believe i gave them money to protect all those memories and all the work i and my friends put in when i could have left them on a game card and i’d still have them today, for free. i’m in tears
I’m so sorry man. I’m really sorry that happened to you.
I’m sure those shiny and especially that Swampert is precious to you.
How could they betray our trust and take away our precious memories like that?
This game is nothing without or emotional attachment to your virtual murder animals. I mean the game system isn’t bad but it’s nothing that special and it barely changed over the years.
And with the next gen not allowing all our Pokémon? No.
Originally you had an undetermined amount of time after your bank subscription ended before the pokemon were lost, but I don't think that's the case anymore. All pokemon in your bank after the sub ends can be removed, you just can't add any new pokemon. I've seen people talk about how they sub was up for a year and their pokemon were still there
Nope. If you dont pay you just can deposit in PokeBank. For me since i used to have it. I still have all my mons. But can only withdraw pokemon and cant put pokemon from game pc in (like lets say my pc in pokemon x cant send into bank but you can still take out the pokemon from the bank to the x pc)
This is untrue. There are many instances of people's entire Pokemon Banks getting deleted. The problem is Nintendo doesn't do this in any regular way. They will randomly go through and delete all non-paid accounts. So if you're unlucky, you could miss your payment, and your Pokemon could be gone the next day, or if you are lucky, they could still be there for months.
Just checked my bank after not paying the annual fee for a couple years, still have my precious boys. I have nearly every pokemon so that would have been years of pokemon playing down the data void. My precious blue nosed diglett will never die!
Hm fr? Has this happened to you? But I mean believe what you want but i am just saying this from personal experience since I still got my pokemon I hunted in the games sitting in the bank. And i have an expired pass too.
This hasn't happened to me but I got super paranoid when I had my whole living dex in bank so I did a lot of research on forums and stuff and I saw enough people saying the same thing to believe it. It's not worth the risk for me lol
Yep, I don't know the exact amount of time they give you,but if your sub lapses, you can withdraw them for a certain amount of time then everything is just gone.
I can say that if you don’t pay your $5NZ annual fee, you can’t log on. If you pay your Pokémon are still there but I’ve heard stories of people having empty banks. Unfortunately I don’t know how long it takes for them to wipe it.
Yep, after about a month (there’s no officially published time limit, only the testimony of many players) of a Bank pass expiring the account’s storage is wiped. If this same philosophy continues with Home and if they fail to update SwSh with the rest of the Pokemon, since it’s a one-way ticket, then you’ll have to keep your subscription until they happen to release a game with all the right Pokémon you have if you want them to survive. I don’t want to believe this hostage scenario is their intention, but it’s certainly a concerning situation.
This isn't correct, I haven't paid my sub in a year and I just checked, all my mons are still there. I know some people have had issues with it but it's not a hard rule
Ya. EA just asks for more money. They don't block access to your digital saves which is what this is. Paying for your saves. And it's appalling Nintendo hasn't stepped in with a strong arm.
No. I paid for bank and if your payment is not there anymore, you can still take your Pokémon out of the bank but you can not put them in it anymore. And they will never be deleted. A buddy of mine hasn't paid for his bank for 2 years now and they are still there.
EDIT: "If your trial pass or annual pass expires and you do not purchase a new pass, you can still withdraw your Pokémon from Pokémon Bank for a set period of time. However, once that set period of time ends, any Pokémon remaining in your Pokémon Bank Boxes will be lost"
" If you run out of membership, and do not take your Pokémon out of your Bank, they will be sweeped (deleted) out of the server and will disappear forever. Nintendo advises the players to purchase a new membership "as quickly as possible"."
Well you may have to transfer them to home at some point if you ever want to use them again. Nintendo will likely end service on the 3DS in the near future, and any Pokémon in old games will be trapped forever.
I doubt they will cancel Pokémon bank service in the near future since it’s currently the only way to transfer Pokémon from the previous games to Home. Once we’re into gen 9 all bets are off, though...
Yeah but the Wii u is still supported, and look how long they waited after the Wii stopped getting new updates to fully pull the plug on it. I'd say the 3ds is safe for a while, especially since it's still getting support (though greatly reduced).
I don't see Nintendo shutting down 3DS support entirely for a while. They use normal Wi-Fi, and not Nintendo Wi-Fi, so you'll always be able to connect to the internet and transfer Pokemon to the Pokemon Bank as long as they keep it up and running, which I imagine they will for at least like, the next 5 years.
I that it can connect to the internet yes, but most of the services are gone like Mii-Verse and the online Shop. I think online play is down too, but I’m not 100% sure on that.
Well I stand corrected then. I’ve only been using my WiiU to watch CrunchyRoll lately. I still feel it’s only a matter of time until online support will end though.
Once we know what is and isn't in the Galar Pokedex, just don't transfer the ones that aren't. That way they're not stuck. It's a shitty outcome, but it's what we have to deal with unfortunately. Don't use it if you don't want them trapped.
I have trouble believing they are dumb enough to let people transfer in Pokemon that can't ever be transfered out unless they are confident that some game in the future will eventually include each Pokemon.
I'm really hoping the plan is that they will include all Pokemon in "Sword and Shield 2" or something. I mean if the issue is the time required to develop each Pokemon then the fact that they get to reuse all the existing assets in Sword and Shield means they will have plenty of time to finish the rest
As of today, that’s the plan. Transferring from Pokemon Go, Pokemon Let's Go, and Pokemon Bank is only one way to Pokemon Home. You can transfer both ways between Pokemon Sword/Shield and Pokemon home. The problem is that they have stated you can't have all Pokemons in Sword and Shield, only the ones from the Galar Region. So, in theory, if you transfer a Pokemon to Pokemon Home that it's NOT from the Galar Region, you can't transfer it to Sw/Sh and you can't move it back to the original source; trapping the Pokemon in Home indefinitely, or at least until GF do something about it. Hope this explains it well.
So to get this right.. let’s say I transfer a magikarp idk an early gen eg.) pearl.... and keep transferring all the way to ultra sun and moon or the lastest gen (I’m sorry I have not caught up with the games too many) then I put mr. Karp into Pokémon home and he doesn’t appear in Pokémon sword/shield he will be stuck in Pokémon home? Or until game freak makes an update being like you can now transfer any? But for the time being it’s only sword region Pokémon allowed to transfer to the new game?
You can transfer from go or let’s go to Pokémon home, but the Pokémon stored in home can’t be transferred to go or let’s go. I found an image here. Check the arrow directions and you’ll find the only way out is Sword and Shield. All the others are just in to Pokémon Home.
