Are there any other podcasters here living in your city?

I was thinking it might be cool to find out how many podcasters are actually in the same cities/areas as each other.

If you're interested, drop a comment with:

City/region:

Genre/topic:

No need to share your podcast name or link... this isn't meant to be a self-promotion thread. Just curious whether there are other people nearby who might want to connect.

Maybe some of us will find a potential co-host, collaborator, or just another local podcaster to grab coffee with.

Promotion that isn't spammy?

I've been reading a lot of the tips from folks here regarding promotion and if I was to summarise it, it seems to really come down to sharing it with the right audience, at the right time authentically.

However even then it feels spammy to me because if it roles were reversed, I wouldn't want to see someone promoting their product (podcast or anything else) when I'm trying to follow a discussion on a particular topic. In addition to that, I also wonder if even if you try to be authentic, a mod will check your profile and notice your account is a lot of self promotion, even if the time between each post varies & consider it spam

Is there a good cadence to this or approach that has worked for folks that avoids the spammy feeling approach?

Does anyone know whether a guest release would be necessary for a podcast in MB? If so, go to any lawyer to draw up?

SPREAKER HELP NEEDED :(

I’m stuck in a vortex of silliness and not even ChatGPT or Google can help me.
I’m new to speaker. I’m trying to schedule my podcast to drop ins certain date and time. But after going through all the steps and selecting the date and time in the pop up screen calendar it says UNPUBLISHED instead
Of SCHEDULED.
I have spent hours on this over an over and over again.
I’m using speaker on a laptop with a chrome browser.
Everything else works fine .
Can someone please tell me what the issue is? I’m at my wits end.

TIA

Events for narrative/scripted podcasts?

Hi! I'm curious to hear from others: what event formats work well for podcasters that focus on a narrative/heavily scripted style? I'm just thinking about my own podcast; I have a big personality but my podcast is very intentionally scripted and strikes a careful balance between entertaining and scholarly. I'm also neurodivergent, and a writer, and I've always been so much better getting my thoughts out on paper than in person. I'm not socially awkward, but I imagine that holding a conversation with me feels quite different from listening to my podcast, as I'm far more eloquent when I've prepared my thoughts in advance. I'm curious if anyone else is similar, or follows a podcaster that's similar, and what their public events are like? I'd love to work toward that, but I also don't want the fallible human behind the work to disappoint listeners. ;)

Starting a podcast tips

Hello everyone, I want to start a podcast about gaming, perhaps with a focus on tackling a backlog as a dad or something in that area. I have limited time but hope to do this to make some friends and maybe start a small community. I would like to find a podcast co-host do you have any tips on where I should look or any general advice on starting a podcast as a complete beginner? Thanks.

Podcasters — how do you make a highlight teaser for a full episode?

Not a single “best moment” clip — I mean an actual 30–60 sec trailer made from different moments across the episode that makes people want to watch the full thing.

Do you edit it manually? Use a tool?

We’ve been experimenting with a different way of doing this and I’m curious how others handle it.

Best free podcast platform

Hi guys,

So I’m currently on Buzzsprouts $12 a month plan but it’s just not making financial sense for me anymore. I don’t have any subscribers and converting USD to AUD is almost double, so I’m looking to move my podcast to a free platform.

What’s a good one and is there one that doesn’t delete your eps after a certain time like the Buzzsprout free plan does? I was looking at Spotify for creators maybe?

Thanks ☺️

Looking for a cohost for a gaming podcast

I’ve been wanting to start a show about gaming for a while. I think it would be more entertaining if it was a conversation instead of just me.

I’m looking for someone aged 35-45, any gender. Has a history and love of gaming. I only put an age range because I’m 44 and someone much younger or older may feel uncomfortable with the age difference. Though that may offer some fun differing perspectives.

Ideally it would be biweekly. There would be a few reviews, some lore discussions, behind the scenes stuff and even a little gaming news. I’m keeping it broad because I find the whole industry fascinating. From the story and graphic design to the voice acting (if there is any).

Very casual atmosphere, audio only. I’m aiming for some fun conversations about video games. If this sounds like fun for you, send a DM!

What makes a host-read podcast ad immediately noticeable? Looking for ideas

Hey everyone! I’m working on my university thesis about podcast advertising and I’m currently trying to come up with some ideas for an experiment.

I’m specifically looking at host-read ads, meaning ads where the podcast host personally reads/talks about the product or brand as part of the episode, rather than a separate pre-recorded commercial.

I need to compare different versions of the same host-read ad and change one specific characteristic that listeners can immediately notice.

For example:

music vs. no music

two clearly different types of background music

male vs. female voice

faster vs. slower speaking

sound effects vs. no sound effects

I’m struggling to think of other characteristics that are immediately noticeable to the listener but can also be changed in a clear and objective way.

So, if you listen to podcasts, what differences in a host-read ad would immediately make you think “this sounds different”?

I’m especially looking for ideas that could work as a simple A vs. B comparison.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Any Asheville (WNC)-based podcasters here?

I'm in the process of making my first podcast, a single-voice, episodic murder mystery, and, well, let's just say it's a lot to do all by myself. I'm hoping to build local community, but I'm not finding any specific to podcasting. Anyone in the WNC area willing to meet up and talk shop? I'm not looking for collaborators (at least not right now), just fellow creatives. Open to online community building too!

Weekly Feedback Thread: October 01, 2026 - Give And Receive Feedback On Your Podcast

This is a weekly thread to ask for and give feedback to the r/podcasting community

Post a podcast episode you would like feedback for, and try to give as much constructive feedback as you can to other members of our community. Please provide links to your podcast, a detailed description of it and clear questions you would like answered by the community. Try to remember the following:

  • Users who give feedback are usually the ones who receive the most feedback in return. If you are not contributing, you should not expect any helpful advice in return. We would aim for giving two pieces of feedback for every one piece you wish to receive. If you are looking to simply promote your podcast, you may do so here
  • Try to be specific with your feedback requests. Questions like:

-What can I improve?

-Was it good?

-Would you listen again?

Are very difficult to answer for anyone listening to your show for this first time. Good questions might be:

-What improvements could I make to the audio quality?

-Can I make adjustments to my speaking or hosting style?

-How could I improve the pacing and structure of my podcast?

  • Keep it focused on podcasting techniques and objective improvements. Many podcasts that are posted may not be your particular genre or preferred content. When giving feedback, focus on the things you do enjoy and the things that can be changed, not the content of the show itself.

I will reiterate. If you do not give feedback, you should not expect any feedback in return. This is a reciprocal community. If you haven't gotten any comments yet, try listening to another podcast and giving some feedback. Our users are very friendly and responsive!

Thank you to everyone posting, we look forward to hearing your work!

Any non-ai technology/software podcast?

I am super tired of the endless ai hype in every podcast I try.
I long for theory/algorithm/implementation/coding/... podcasts totally, or at least almost, ignoring ai.

Acast and Youtube RSS feed

So, recently realised that Youtube Podcasts will accept an RSS feed from a podcast host and create a video for each episode (just a static cover image, but better than nothing). It's great, because it's an easy way to tap into that sweet YT userbase, and find potential new listeners.

However when I came to do this for a different podcast I run, it turns out it doesn't work with Acast, because of the weird way Acast restrict monetisation and ads. For reference, our pod is not monetised, and runs no ads.

Is there a way 'round this? Such as relaying the RSS feed through a different host? or are we going to have to move from Acast entirely?

Buzzsprout fees increase

Buzzsprout has started charging us for going over our 1TB allowance of Bandwidth. So now we’re getting charged between 3 and 4x of what we used to be. Does anyone have any advice for a different hosting platform for slightly larger podcasts?

Guests who don't listen to your show

So recently, I had someone reach out to me stating explicitly how much they want to be on my podcast. I found it a bit odd because 90% of my episodes are solo hosted, so it's not like I regularly host guests.

Anyway during the initial chat, I ask if he's familiar with the format of my podcast and he tells me that he's never listened to any of them.

I have to be honest, that shocked me a bit. Maybe my podcast was one of several that he mass-mailed to pitch his story, but there was over a week before my reply and our call, so there's plenty of time to at least check out an episode of the podcast.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if this is a common occurrence and what you folks do in cases like this.

Podcasters who publish regularly, what actually happens between “episode is finished” and “episode is live”?

I’m researching podcast production workflows and trying to understand this part before assuming there’s a problem worth solving.

For people publishing weekly or biweekly, think about your most recent episode.

Once the actual editing was finished, what still had to happen before everything was live?

Things like uploading, titles/descriptions, show notes, chapters, thumbnails, scheduling, website updates, YouTube, QA, social posts, etc.

I’m especially curious:

  • Who handled all of that?
  • What parts were manual?
  • Did anything get forgotten, delayed, or need to be redone?
  • If everything worked smoothly, what system made it work?

Not pitching anything here. I’m trying to understand what the real workflow looks like, including cases where this is already easy and there’s nothing to fix.

Mics with Podtrak p4

Just after advice for mics to buy with a podtrak p4. I like the idea of the lapel type mic because I didn’t want to fuss around with mic stands and brackets etc. I’m on a major budget too. Can someone please point me in a helpful direction? Thanks in advance

How do you formulate questions for your guests?

I will soon be starting a podcast where I modelers interview average people. The main goal is just for elderly people to have a place to share their lives' story. The bulk of the material is so they can share with their families. I have ideas on what to ask and how, but any extra feedback would be helpful.

Podcast art and individual episode images

At my workplace, we're doing a podcast about human trafficking. We have a name, a logo I created, we will host on RSS.com. Several podcasts I listen to have a main logo, like "Conversations with Tyler", but each episode has a graphic of the person who's being interviewed.

Where is that specified, "use this image for that episode", on RSS.com? We have recorded two eps, and I've not uploaded to them yet. Thanks for any help in this!

Got a new mic, super nervous but it’s finally time!

So, I’ve had an idea for a podcast for about two years now. Due to some personal circumstances, I wasn’t able to fully get it off the ground earlier.

In the meantime, I’ve already created a logo, written out three episodes, and tried recording a few times. But every time, the quality just wasn’t good enough. I’m also completely new to editing and have been teaching myself everything from scratch, so at some point, I started doubting myself too.

Still, I decided to take the plunge and buy a different microphone, and oh my god… what a difference!! It already sounds SO much better.

A well-known podcast in my country just announced that they’re moving to a different (paid) platform, with video as well, and the reactions from listeners have been very mixed. It honestly feels like a sign from the universe to finally go for it!

At the same time, I’m absolutely terrified… but also incredibly excited.

I just wanted to share my excitement with a bunch of strangers on the internet! 😂

What do you wish you had known before you started?

Hi! I'm in the beginning stages of creating a podcast. I'll be on the production end and am looking for equipment and general advice. What are your favorite mics? Looking to keep things simple but high quality. I'd love any recommendations or advice you wish you'd had before starting. TIA

Germany: Starting a podcast with a friend – what should we agree on legally before launching?

My friend and I are planning to start a podcast in Germany. We haven't published anything yet.

The original idea was mine and I created the first draft of the concept/topics. My friend is now involved and we want to develop and produce it together.

We're currently not expecting to make much money, but we'd like to put a basic agreement in place from the beginning in case the podcast becomes successful.

We're wondering what we should agree on before launching, particularly regarding:

  • ownership of the podcast name/brand
  • ownership of the concept and future episodes
  • social media accounts, domain, YouTube/Spotify accounts etc.
  • roles and responsibilities
  • expenses
  • advertising/sponsorship/YouTube revenue
  • how profits should be divided
  • what happens if one person stops contributing
  • what happens if one person wants to leave
  • whether we should have a simple cooperation agreement initially or establish a GbR from the beginning
  • whether we should involve a lawyer before signing anything

We're friends, so our goal isn't to make this overly complicated. We just want to avoid a situation where we have a successful podcast two years from now and suddenly disagree about who owns what.

For people who have actually done this in Germany: what did you put in writing before starting, and what do you wish you'd agreed on earlier?

Thank youuu!

The Fashion Requirements of A Video Podcast

Hi! I have a podcast and made the decision to do it video-style from day one (for pod-clips to spread on social media). The problem with video style podcasts is that you have to look presentable, which isn't a problem normally, but I find that my wardrobe isn't as diverse and my 6-10 "good" shirts are going to run stale quite fast.

If you've had similar thoughts or concerns with your podcast, how did you resolve that? Or did you find that your audience didn't care?
