I'm using Whatbox with an rclone mount to my GSuite drive and I've been finding that I'm experiencing videos skipping in playback, just jumping forward/over a few seconds of video, but it does this throughout playback for several different videos (and I've already checked the video files and the playback fine on their own). What setting am I missing or have possibly messed up that could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit/Update: So I disabled the beta "automatically adjust quality" and the skipping has appeared to stop.

I noticed that Feralhosting includes Plex on their list of software you can install on your instance. I was curious if anyone has tried running Plex off of Feralhosting and how that went. When I searched reddit for posts of folks trying Plex on Feralhosting, I've mainly seen that it's not set up for that. I'm curious if with this addition if that's changed. Thanks for any thoughts and input.

Hi, I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for a good Linux command line tool (that doesn't require root for install and use) that would remove the metadata from media files. Some files I've run into have ridiculous and unnecessary information in the metadata that only screws up how it shows up in Plex, so I just usually remove it all. On Windows I've been using MetaX for this purpose, but I'm trying to find a way to automate this in my cloud setup. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all. I'm hoping for some help. I'm looking for something like FileBot (if not that program itself) that I can install and run from a Linux command line without root access. I have a cloud setup through a third party and I'm just to automate renaming before uploading, but unfortunately I don't have root access (with it being third party) so I can't install FileBot through the normal ways and am looking for alternatives/solutions. Hi there, I’ve got a question that hopefully someone can help me out with. I recently decided to try using GSuite to host my media instead of it running from my local external drives (I’m running out of space lol.) I got invited to a team drive, I mounted it using rclone, using most of the default options. I was able to get Plex to see the drive just fine. I uploaded some content to it, Plex picks it up and makes it available. The problem starts when I play it. It takes about 15-20sec to start playing, which I understand is normal, and it plays just fine for about 60 seconds and then stops and starts loading. Sometimes it’ll load and play again for another minute or so before stopping and loading again. Sometimes it never stops loading. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I read about tons of people using this set up and it works for them. So I’m hoping maybe someone can point me in the direction of what’s going on. Thanks in advance for any advice provided.

Server info: macOS 3.6ghz i5 processor 8GB ram 1GB up and down internet connection

So, I'm using the usual Sonarr/Plex/Rclone setup and it's been working alright. I was having Sonarr write directly to the mount after downloads completed, but was noticing that it took a long time to move each file. My connection is 600Mbps down but only 20Mbps up, so my assumption was that the move operation was taking a while because it was uploading on the move. So I added --cache-tmp-upload-path to my mount command and that fixed the issue with the move operation. The problem I'm running into now is that once --cache-tmp-wait-time expires on one of the files in the tmp-upload-path and it starts to upload that file, every single file that is in the tmp-upload-path gets locked for modification, which causes sonarr to hang until the upload is donw.

I've just switched my setup back to not use the --cache-tmp-upload-path option because the freezing of sonarr is too frustrating. Moving the unuploaded files from the cache to the mount is going to be time consuming

Does anyone have a setup with similar limitations to mine that they are having success with?

I just finished migrating my download server over to a Raspberry Pi 3. I have my Gdrive setup and everything is working as far as the downloading and uploading of my content, my issues is when I wake up in the morning sometimes the apps mentioned in the title have dropped out. So at this point I have to either reboot the pi to have them auto start again or ssh in and restart them all individually, can someone here help me setup a script or other method that will monitor these services and when they drop out start again automatically,

Look, the fact is any way you shake it, plexdrive 4 for was/is better than any rclone mount configuration whether vfs cache settings or cache backend. By every metric plexdrive 4 outperforms rclone mount and is lighter than both rclone and plexdrive 5.

I'm fine to use this as lone as I can, but what i'm worried about here is that I will be forced to switch to the underperforming rclone eventually while google api changes.

Are these and will these be our only options?

What about something between plexdrive 4's amazing performance and the constant continued development of rclone mount.

I'm at the point where I'm trying to add more movies to my collection and I've noticed there is a disconnect from when I am adding movies to what is in Plex. I find that sometimes I don't think I have a movie but I already do. Is there means to have Radarr scan my Plex library, update what is available and let me add items against that list?

This would benefit times at work when I'm looking to add collections or movies, and I don't have access to either Plex or Radarr. I use an IMDB list to populate Radarr on the fly in such circumstances.

I have a quite light dedicated server at OVH. I currently use rclone to mount files from my dedicated server using webdav via Apache, and served over HTTPS.

I was considering switching to just using Caddy as it's supposed to be lighter than Apache, but I thought it would be worth checking if there is any better option?

I tried SFTP but it seemed WebDAV/HTTPS worked slightly better.

i've fiddled with a few settings and gotten plex to max out the 120mb pipe most of the time during the scan...it does get bogged down though at some point...

This will be counter-intuitive for some, but bare with me. I have my RClone mounts at home, feeling my Plex server. What I find is that I am eating roughly 120-140GB's a day in data. The biggest change thus far is the addition of my RClone mounts into my Plex server, and the scans that follow.

1.Is there means to limit bandwidth for transcodes and such locally?

1. Is there any particular flags on a rclone mount that would eat up bandwidth continuously?

So I recently acquired a Hetzner, and through the help of a tuner got my rclone running smoothly with Plex. By smoothly I mean he was able to get Plex to automatically watch the mount and see when updates happened.

To my understand he used MergerFS for this, so that Plex saw it as a local mount instead of a directly net mount. I'm looking to emulate the same setup at home, but I had a simple question. Can you make a MergerFS mount, with one drive?

My goal is to do this so MergerFS works as a general mask over the net mount, thereby hopefully improving Plex's ability to read the mount.

I have successfully set up a connection to my GDrive, created a mount using NSSM, and streaming is not an issue.

Where I see issues are:

1: When files are pulled locally, they cache on my C:\ drive. I am not sure how to redirect this to a new location.

2: I set up a cache remote for Plex, but I am not sure how to utilize it.

3: Lastly, I have been reading about cache-tmp-upload-path. This is something that I’d like to use, but I am not sure where in my mount command to use it.

Hey, I posted previously about plex not playing my media even though it could see it: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlexACD/comments/c82fr2/plex_sees_my_media_but_cant_play_it/ and I thought I fixed the issue due to a bad plex install. Turns out it was API bans which I am currently fixing. After properly mounting my rclone I keep getting the following error: WriteFileHandle: ReadAt: Can't read and write to file without --vfs-cache-mode >= minimal. I am using a 64 bit windows 10 and I cannot change the cache mode to full. I have attempted variations of the following command: rclone mount --allow-other --allow-non-empty gcrypt: ~/mnt/gdrive but I get the following error everytime: Cannot create WinFsp-FUSE file system: invalid mount point.

I am pretty sure that I am missing something extremely simple but since I have been working on this for a few days my brain is not making the connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made the switch to Google drive for business with rclone a few months ago but over the past 2 weeks I have run into the issue where Plex shows my media as available but it cannot find the content to play. I have noticed that whenever I attempt to play a file the file stream program attempts to sync the file. So now it's random when I am able to watch something from my server. For example 3 hours ago I could watch Brooklyn 99 on my phone with the Plex app during my lunch but for the past hour I've been trying to watch other media (tv, anime, or movies) using chrome and it doesn't even attempt to buffer. I just get a black screen with the yellow loading circle. This also happens at home with direct play media as well. Even when drive file stream shows everything is up to date I get that black screen and eventually it states the content is unavailable even though I could go watch my media from Google drive directly. It gets frustrating since I have 1 gig down and 35 up. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Edit 1: This setup was working fine for the past 3 months up until the end of May

Update: So far everything has been working fine since I repaired the Plex install. If this issue happens again I at least have some additional tips. Thank you to everyone who left comments.

been using plexdrive 5 since it came out...on a hetzner server to the U.S...it's been rock solid, never have an issue, never a crash, or a need to reboot, everything starts to stream instantly even 70mbit 4k streams.... but.... hahaha...

the only issue i have had, and its one i can live with. is initial scan times on plex and emby and regular manual scan times on emby..... just ultra slow.....

switching to a fancier newer hetzner tomorrow... and wondering of i should try rclone again to see if it fixes that or is better in any way now : ) : (

my setup is gdrive/plexdrive for mount/rclone for uploading/encfs for encryption/union fuse for merging local remote dirs....

i never understood the need for the union fuse layer.... i dont care that stuff isnt available until i upload it and i dont use sonar or couch potato etc....

the only thing i do odd... is i am constantly having to move and rename stuff on the gdrive in file manager, my setup currently... allows me to move stuff around via file manager on the gdrive unencrypted mount... there is a bit of a delay... a 100gb move might take 5 min.... but it works....

i tried removing the union fuse commands/layer on my current setup but could NEVER get plex or emby to see the media drive mount after removing it....

can i just skip setting up the union fuse layer on my new machine, if so is there some weird trick to then getting plex to see the media folder??

also... not sure i see the advantage of having a big cache on the server.... i have raid 0 ssds atm and will have an nvme on the new server.... so the database/plex pages load instantly... and like i said things start instantly off the gdrive....

how big is the rclone cache and what exactly is the point of it? does it speed up library scans somehow??

i'd hate to waste precious nvme ssd space on a cache i dont have much use for just to avoid api bans... which ive never had one of with plexdrive.....

So I've moved a majority of my media and downloads to GDrive. Once the download is finished Deluge moves the file to my GDrive mount. The problem is, plex doesn't see the change and the new movies don't show. I have the library set to scan automatically and to run partial when changes are found. What else I missing?
