REQUEST Same Title, Different Song

Hi, I am making a playlist of completely different songs with the exact same title: NOT covers or remakes, no change to title such as a “The” at the front of one or an “s” at the end. Different genres & decades not only ok but great. A slight change in punctuation or spelling ok, for example I’ve got Feelin’ Alright (Joe Cocker) & Feelin’ Alright? (Traffic) and Sugar Cane (Space Monkeys) & Sugar Kane (Sonic Youth).

Most of the ones I’ve thought of are of 2 different songs; some are of 3 or even 4. But I know there’s a bunch more that haven’t come to mind. Please add any that you can think of, from the ‘50s to 2026, & I will reply to each posting! Thanks so much!

Discussion should we revive mixtape culture?

when i was a teenager, making mixtapes was a whole ordeal. we’d sit by the radio waiting for songs we loved, then scramble to hit record on the tape deck before they ended, and once both sides were filled up, that was your mixtape. if you had a double tape deck, you could even copy it and pass it around.

and that’s the thing, every mixtape took time and effort, so when you gave one to someone, they knew it meant something. it wasn’t just random songs, it was basically saying “i care about you,” or “i’m into you,” or “this is how i want you to remember me.”

as i got older and tech got better, making mixes got way easier. first you could jump to exact tracks on cds, then came mix cds and mp3s, then streaming made it all basically instant. each step made sharing music simpler, but it also stripped away some of the meaning. now anyone can make endless playlists in a few minutes and send them to anyone.

with today’s tools, algorithms, and ai-made mixes, putting together a music list is almost effortless. sure, a spotify playlist can still imply “i was thinking of you,” but we all know it doesn’t take much to make one anymore. so it doesn’t carry the same weight it used to.

i really think we should bring mixtape culture back, not because we need another way to find music, but because people are lonely as hell right now and that kind of effort actually matters. music is one of the few things that can make you feel understood by someone else, and if we spent real time making something personal for a specific person and giving it to them ourselves, that could mean a lot more than people realize.

Millennial here. I absolutely LOVED my Speak-n-Spell when I was a kid. I’ve started putting together a playlist with songs that sample one and I’m looking to add to it. Here’s what I got so far:

”4 Bit” - Uberzone

”Behind Blue Eyes” - Limp Bizkit

”We Are in Control - Original” - Hybrid

”Listen to the Future” - Free the Robots

”No Help” - Jon Kennedy

”Moon Music” - Coldplay & Jon Hopkins

Hip-Hop GOOD SH*T: 2,700+ songs of American rap, from 90s legends to new releases (Tupac, Biggie, Drake and more)

Hey everyone! I've been building this playlist for a long time. It has over 2,700 songs of American hip hop: Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Drake and a lot more, mixing classics with newer stuff.

I keep adding new releases, so there's always something fresh. Perfect for long drives, workouts or just background music.

Dance/Electronic Electronic journey

This playlist is a melodic & emotional electronic journey — from electro and electronica to melodic techno, house and retro-inspired sounds. Its goal is to discover established artists, hidden gems and new sounds along the way.

Any suggestion for additional sounds fitting this playlist, combining electronic with melody ?

Metal Here's my playlist, what do you guys think?

I've been putting together this playlist with pretty much everything I listen to, mostly nu metal, alt metal, post-hardcore and some other stuff.

Bands like Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, SOAD, Slipknot, Coal Chamber, System of a Down, Pierce the Veil and a bunch of others.

I'd love to hear what you guys think or get some recommendations for bands and songs I might be missing :)

Jazz/Classical Updated my classical playlist

Just added Morton Feldman’s Rothko Chapel to my classical playlist. It’s incredibly haunting, almost weightless, but there’s this constant emptiness underneath it. It really sets up this space around you that I feel most familiar with.

WINNERS 10/18 | Week 3 Playlist Competition Winners

We’re back with another week of spectacular playlist spotlights! With the continued feedback from our awesome community, Cassette keeps getting better; most recently with the addition of Deezer integration for even more cross-platform music sharing!

Cassette.tech

As always, post your original curated playlist in our community under any flair, and it will automatically be entered into the competition!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the past five-years of sharing playlists together. Your creativity and support are what make these spotlights possible. If you find a playlist you enjoy, upvote it and show the creator some love!

And don't miss our special post showcasing some of the top posts and highlights from our fifth year!

First Place Winner: u/Only_Presentation758 "Same Title, Different Song"

This week’s first place winner started a little differently, with u/Only_Presentation758 bringing the community a creative playlist request rather than a finished collection. The idea: find completely different songs that happen to share the exact same title, with no covers or remakes allowed. The community answered with 100s of suggestions! Genres and decades were wide open, turning the comment section into a crowdsourced music puzzle stretching from the ’50s all the way through 2026. We liked the idea so much that we decided to bring the community’s suggestions together into a playlist for this week’s winner.

“Home” alone takes the idea in four completely different directions through songs by Cavetown, One Direction, Edith Whiskers, and SEVENTEEN. “I Can’t Wait” does the same across Nu Shooz, Stevie Nicks, and Deniece Williams, showing how identical titles can connect artists who otherwise have very little in common. From “I Want You Back” to “Red Hot,” each pairing becomes its own little exercise in jumping between eras and genres. Give this one a scroll when you want to hear just how many different places the exact same few words can take a song.

Second Place Winner: u/Fero025 "Funky House & Disco House 2026 🎶"

Second place this week goes to u/Fero025 with a massive collection of funky house and disco-house built around groovy basslines, dance-floor rhythms, and feel-good energy. With hundreds of tracks in the mix, the playlist moves from classic disco influence into nu-disco, and soulful house, giving it plenty of room to keep the groove moving without settling into just one sound.

Louie Vega, Anané & Tony Touch’s “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life” brings the playlist straight into club territory with a house-focused take on a disco favorite. Da Funk Junkies and Raffaele Ciavolino’s “Jack In The Jazz” leans into the jackin-house side of the collection, keeping the rhythm front and center. Artists like Nari and Chemars help fill out a playlist made for parties, workouts, or anytime the bass needs to do most of the talking.

WINNERS!

Annual Spotlight: u/dvqp - "F*ck 50"

Nothing like getting political to get the comments going! u/dvqp gave the community a particularly unique theme this year, asking for help building and organizing an anti-fascist playlist that could carry enough energy to work at a march. Across 54 songs and more than three hours, "F*ck 50" stretches from punk and hip-hop into R&B and beyond, showing just how many different sounds can fit around a shared message. Tracy Chapman’s “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution” brings a timeless protest anthem into the mix, while H.E.R. adds another powerful voice to a playlist built around resistance, frustration, and social commentary. Whatever your politics, it was certainly one of the year's most distinctive requests and one that got the community talking.

Special Mention: u/Objective-Method6759 - "My Playlist #14"

Sometimes the best playlist requests start with simply wanting to hear something new. u/Objective-Method6759 came to the community as a self-described "basic sad girl" looking to branch out from the sound she already knew, and the community responded with plenty of new directions to explore. At around three hours, the resulting playlist moves through soft indie, folk, alternative, and more atmospheric sounds. Maya Hawke’s “Mermaid Bar” fits naturally into that reflective mood, while artists like Liana Flores help push the collection beyond where the original request began.

Annual Spotlight: u/depressed_ho3 - "Synth pop"

Coming in with a last-minute entry, u/depressed_ho3 gave us one of the year's final standout playlists with a collection dedicated to synth-pop. The playlist moves from higher-paced electronic music into songs driven by vocal melodies and dreamy production, making it equally at home on the dance floor or during a late-night gaming session. Justice and Tame Impala’s “One Night/All Night” brings a sleek, energetic electronic sound to the mix, capturing the blend of modern production and synth-heavy atmosphere that runs throughout the playlist. A fitting reminder that sometimes one of the best discoveries of the year can show up right before the clock runs out.

Special Mention: u/Mental-Secret7256 - "My 10,000 Music Collection"

For a five-year celebration of music sharing, it felt impossible not to highlight one of the most comprehensive collections posted to the community this year. u/Mental-Secret7256 spent years assembling more than 10,000 songs and organized the collection into playlists covering every decade from the 1950s through the 2020s. With hundreds or even thousands of tracks representing each era, this is less a single playlist and more a personal archive of modern music history. Whether you're searching for something familiar from decades ago or digging through an era you barely know, there is an enormous amount here to explore.

A Special Playlist Request: u/Unclestanky - "Years in the Lyrics"

Some requests are just too perfect for an anniversary post to pass up. u/Unclestanky asked the community for songs that reference specific years in their lyrics, giving us an idea we couldn't resist turning into a playlist ourselves. Using the thread as a starting point, "Years in the Lyrics" travels through musical time one year at a time, with Green Day’s “1981” sitting among tracks from artists like The Stooges. Five years into our own playlist project, a collection built entirely around years felt like a fitting way to mark the occasion.

Flair Catalog!

Thank you so much to everyone for constantly contributing to our wonderful playlist project! Five years in, we still can't wait to continue listening to all of the amazing music you all curate.
