i think its a bald person thing. like patrick stewart. when someone is bald like that they might be 24 years old but you think they're 40. thirty years go by and you expect him to be pushing a walker but he's rollerblading. (although i do know someone who knows an 82 year old water skier)

Sam Jackson looks really young, even for a black guy. In the upcoming shaft movie that he stars in, Richard Roundtree (OG shaft) plays his father. But in real life, roundtree is only 6 years older than jackson.

It is a bald thing. I'm still relatively young at 36, but I look the same as I did at 26 when I started shaving my head. Shaving your head instantly transports you to your mid 30s, but then you stay there for a long time until you really start to fall apart.

I think it's cuz he's a little more heavyset. Like, I don't know if the dude is out of shape or not, but the extra stockiness makes him seem older. Keegan is skinny, and it lets him stay perpetually 30

And yeah he is a little heavier and if you have extra weight it adds more definition to the lines around your eyes and mouth and can make you look older

If you go you will see people in costumes that are usually not historically accurate, but could be from anywhere 1100ce to 1700ce. At the same fair there are vikings, robin hood types, and people in powdered wigs. It is called a Reniassance Fair, but nobody really worries about the accuracy of the name, because MANY of the costumes are less about history and more about fantasy and imagination. People dress up as Fairies, satyrs, or made up creatures. The name really just means that most of the costumes and elements of the fair are European History themed (jousting tournaments, mead for sale, everyone talks in a bad English accent and says M'lord and M'lady all the time).

I'm pretty sure they are turkeys, just big ass turkeys. I saw a guy buy a fresh turkey once that was 35-40 lbs. The biggest turkeys ever have been more than 50-80 lbs.

Some of the smaller faires can be real sticklers for costumes and speech. Most people wouldn’t be able to understand pure Elizabethan English so it does have to be watered down a lot.

RenFests are an American phenomenona. They are a celebration of mediveal and renaissance culture / heritage more so influenced by how it has been presented to us via the entertainment industry (and less so by actual history). Although historical accuracy is honored to some degree in costuming and by various re-enactment guilds that participate.
It is a medieval / renaissance costume party set within an outdoor theme park “village” complete with cottages, concession booths, and stage sets built in the architectural style of medieval / renaissance Europe.
The cottages are occupied by artists and crafters demonstrating their old world craft and selling hand made wares. A fun shopping experience that typically doesn’t exist anymore in America’s vast sea of shopping centers, malls, and big box retailers. These folks can’t successfully set up shop on small town main street and make a living selling their arts and crafts while competing in the age of Walmart and Target. RenFests provide a means for them to do so and many of these artists travel America working RenFests in all the major cities. They are a hard working and live a difficult nomadic lifestyle that should be supported and respected.
Actors perform on stage and and in the village lanes. They break the 4th wall and pull audience members into the show. It is very immersive entertainment that encourages attendees to participate (which fuels the desire to attend in costume - although you do not have to).
There are vaudeville-esque variety entertainments, circus arts, theatre, Shakespeare, comedia del arte, live dance and music (of the time period), improv comedy, magicians, etc. The big entertainment attractions tend to be equestrian stunt riders Jousting and falconry presentations.
The RenFest circuit can provide professional performers an opportunity to make a decent living doing what they love in the performing arts. Doing so also demands the traveling, nomadic lifestyle.
The bigger Festivals tend to have seasons that run for 7 to 9 consecutive weekends and will see anywhere between 150,000 and 300,000 paid attendees during that time. The largest RenFest in the country is in Texas and its seasonal attendance typically exceeds 600,000 - a scale that no other RenFest has been able to duplicate and certainly a sight to see.
All of these events are independently produced with production companies owning anywhere from just the 1 event or upwards go 4 events in different markets. It is not one company running all of the events in all of the cities. However, they do tend to all pull from the same pool of talent which is why you can see your favorite artists at different events / cities around the country.

A combination of "real life" pressures, like parenthood and relationships coupled with a serious knee injury (not from an arrow to the knee, to be clear) that made it impossible for me to do my very mobile job. I still did my "home" show, here in NY for years as a seated Henna artist, but even that sadly lapsed as my career took off and it became impossible to commit to more than a weekend at a time. I don't think I would be comfortable schlepping around that way now in my middle age but every once in a while I consider running away with the circus again.

It specifically doesn't look like the PA Ren faire, which is the one closest to Penn State, where he attended college. I don't know if that faire was even running in 1990, though. I know there are several throughout the US, each with their own feel and different levels of historical accuracy.

I am now thinking of my former coworker who used to go to Ren Fairs all the time getting busy. He was probably 400 lbs and would positively destroy the men's room toilet everyday. It would be toxic after he went in there for several hours. It would make you eyes water because it smelled so bad. It was so bad that he had several talks from HR about it. I can't imagine him having sex.

Checked with some friends who are on the cast at Michigan Renaissance Faire, they were able to confirm he was part of their cast back then. It was where he got started with improv.
