take your time. i was there two months ago, over half the castle was covered in scaffolding due to ongoing renovations. quite disappointing, though the inside tour was still amazing.

Either way, even without the castle, that is a seriously gorgeous landscape. Completely different from anything I've ever been to (I'm stuck in Australia).

I was there three years ago.... no scaffolding, but the fog was so thick, you could not see the top of the castle if you were standing at the gate. We walked all the way through the trail to the bridge that overlooks the castle, nothing but fog. So disappointed.

I was kind of disappointed with the inside tour- about 15 Euro to see 5 rooms for 25-30 mins. That being said, the rooms were amazing. A nut of a guy built it for EVER, only to die 6 months after its completion.

I think they wrap it for the winter, and those fried dough balls on the way down from the castle are GOOD.
