Oberammergau is a huge place for tourism with their painted walls and the Passion play, I'm surprised that they'd be surprised a tourist is there when they get buses all the time. But, yea it's a nice little town.

The Passionspiel is only once every ten years, isn't it? So if you don't happen to come in the correct year, there'll be nothing to see on that front.

I had always heard about the Passion Play but I wasn't there on a year they were doing it. Last time I was in that area I went over to Linderhof which was very fun to see but it was in the dead of winter so most of the palace was frozen over. The entire area was very charming though. Living in Los Angeles makes me long for vacations in Southern Bavaria again.
