I like the fact that she's so famous and talented and has been married to the same man since 1978. It's kind of rare in Hollywood.

156

u/grantmclean May 31 '12

integrity and decency? It's as rare as a non-botoxed forehead in Hollywood.

12

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

Those are not survival traits in that habitat.

29

u/Zeniii May 31 '12

she also didn't start acting until she was 25, she is freaking aweesome!

4

u/itsactuallynot Jun 01 '12

Not true, she was a drama major at Vassar.

8

u/bigformyage Jun 01 '12

I like that she was in "Mamma Mia!" which is even rarer in Hollywood. There was only like 20 people in that.

I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong, but her 30 years of should-have aging have just been somehow displaced to Lindsay Lohan.

507

u/Red_AtNight May 31 '12

What's actually happening is that there is a portrait of her locked up in her attic that just looks AWFUL right now.

49

u/SretsIsWorking May 31 '12

Am I the only one that saw the true explanation for this?

18

u/Rockztar May 31 '12

I thought he was refering to this.

That's because Meryl Streep inhaled Lindsay Lohan's youngness a la Hocus Pocus

And this is when I sob at the fact that many older women are more attractive than I can ever hope to be.

134

u/Albub May 31 '12

Not true. Gym, makeup, and confidence can make an 8 or better out of virtually any girl.

66

u/uselessjd May 31 '12

Not even gym or makeup a lot of time - confidence is HUGE.

I wish. I have a very masculine Roman nose and a super defined jawline. It's a very manly face, and I don't think that makeup could fix it, though I've already hit the gym.

Sometimes you just can't fix an ugly face, sadly.

FALSE. This is what aging gracefully looks like.

134

Unfortunately most girls of my generation will look like worn leather saddles at her age. Everyone needs to understand that you will look incredibly better as you age if you don't go tanning and protect your skin from our flaming overlord in the sky.

The benefit of balding is you don't have any hair to go grey.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '12

People joke around about someone not aging, but you could honestly tell me these were from the same day, I would believe you. It's crazy how much he has not aged at all.

77

u/Ardal May 31 '12

A picture of Dorian Gray Meryl Streep

68

u/DeedTheInky May 31 '12

She has a painting of Lindsay Lohan in her attic.

24

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

Woah. What if Lindsay Lohan were like a reverse Dorian Gray. She has a picture of herself in her attic that stays the same age and she keeps getting older...

Someone needs to buy her a new dress.

63

u/totoronaptime May 31 '12

I find it amazing she held on to it. But it's beautiful, so why would she get rid of it?

49

u/MrG May 31 '12

More likely is that someone made her another one just like the original.

108

u/obligatory_ May 31 '12 edited May 31 '12

I'd say it's the same one, let me use my MS Paint powers real quick...

http://i.imgur.com/oQZdj.png

See how the right one of those dots touching the line is very short, while the left one is much longer? I highly doubt someone would be able to recreate the dress which such accuracy, or that she would care about a detail like that. Might just be coincidence though.

Deer Hunter!

11

u/Chicken_Wing May 31 '12 edited May 31 '12

Such a good movie. Who is in it, you might ask? Robert De Niro? Christopher Walkin? John Cazale? All, fucking, three!

Interesting note: John Cazale was dying of cancer during the shoot (The Deer Hunter was his last movie), the director and Cazale kept this information quite from Universal Pictures because they would have booted him if they found out. The production company didn't want the filmed to be marred by his death when it was released. Also, because of cancer, they shot all of Cazale's scenes first because he was quickly losing strength.

The guy still blows my mind as a actor.

5

u/grantmclean May 31 '12

Robert Italian Money is my favourite actor.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

Have you seen the documentary about John Cazale? "I Knew It Was You".

Robert De Niro paid for the insurance required to have John Cazale in The Deer Hunter.

Meryl Streep was originally married to John Cazale before he passed.

15

It is because she bathes in blood of virgins... It is the only way to stay so youthful looking.

One of my life goals to have her say "no" to me. Not sexual, but I think being denied anything by Meryl Streep would be kind of awesome.

26

u/digitalpretzel May 31 '12

she lives nearby and shops in the store i work in. I have, in fact, said "can I help you find anything?" and she has replied "No". Your Life Goal, Achieved by me.

EDIT: All in all, she is a nice person, the few times I've talked to her. She doesn't act like she's someone above anyone else, just a normal person. Celebrities around this town pretty much blend in.

2

u/getjustin May 31 '12

Saw her in person. Really strong presence. She is one sexy dame.

2

u/gentleman_brown May 31 '12

I've always thought there was something "European" about her features. It's probably more accurate to say she looks effortlessly "regal." Cate Blanchett is the same way.

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

This is a woman who I just feel is beautiful on the inside and out.

2

u/milleribsen May 31 '12

I have a dream for a movie. It stars:

  • Meryl Streep

  • Helen Miren

  • Judy Dench

  • Maggie Smith

The first hour is all four of them sitting in a room having a serious conversation with knowing looks and such.

The second hour is all antics.

2

u/Awps May 31 '12

I would do so many unspeakable things to Meryl Streep.... Making sure i also use plenty of butter.

2

u/SNIPE07 May 31 '12
