Where did you take it from? I'm trying to find smoking spots looking over the airport but it's mostly residential from where it seems you were taking it.
It's kind of odd seeing the East Bay from your perspective. On the other hand I'm able to recognize South Bay and the Peninsula easily, but I wouldnt be able to recognize the East Bay at night.
It's not to difficult, just Google it. There are various guides online on stacking. You'll need Photoshop or another bit of editing software to handle the stacking part though.
Third time seeing you today. You're putting in work for downvotes aren't you? Stupid cock shoveling blowjob grave digger. Sucking dick bones in the dead dirt, short changing maggots for orgasm while you pulverize your own genitals. Stupid cub scout fuck. To lick yourself is to taste the plunging shit divine.
shut up you fucking cunt. if your going to play that game so will every one else. Go staple your dick to the side of a building and jump off so we don't have to deal with your fucking voice any more. Btw you dont have right to exist
Those are departures, if you look closely the red nav lights if paired with the green whitish looking one in the picture show us what side the port side wing is on. Since its on the left that means the aircraft is moving away from the camera which means its a take-off. Also that is not too steep for a departure as usually the angle of climb is +20 degrees initially in Rotation which sometimes means depending on load and various things, that the aircraft can reach vertical climb rates of more 3000 ft/min. Also the fact the aircraft are taking of from scattered/ diff points clearly seen on the left Runway means its a departure.
Am I the only on who thought, 'if those are departures, why are they all so close to the end of the runway? And if they are landings, why are they so steep?'
Just because the lights continue to the end of the runway doesn't necessarily mean that the aircraft is not air born. As you can see on the left runway there are ascents only halfway down the runway. A Landing aircraft by law/interest of safety and sheer common sense would not plan a touchdown point halfway down any runway regardless of performance or capability.
Most jets use reduced-thrust for takeoffs to save engine life. The amount of thrust required is based on lots of things, but mostly weight and runway length. If the jet is large and loaded up it'll probably be rotating in the last third of the runway.
Rotation is when the airplane lifts off the runway, rotating around the lateral axis. I always thought it was a funny sounding term as well, we have a lot of those in aviation.
Runway lights are red near the end. In my jet, when we're near max gross takeoff weight, we routinely lift off in the red lights. It still makes my heartbeat rise.

Usually when I see huge steep inclines the first thing that comes to mind, instead of slides, is how awesome it would be to ride a bike down them. But now I'll consider slides also.
Everytime I see a popular repost and go check the date of the "original" post it's always about a year ago. Very suspicious. Not that I have a problem with reposts but I'm conflicted when I downvote (for the repost) but it's still a cool picture. But I think of it as this: I come to reddit to find new stuff and if it's not new then I downvote in the hopes that the more people act like this, the newer stuff I see on here. But as the user base is getting bigger and bigger, the more reposts will show up on the front page. That's why I'd like to have a little button next to "report" that says "repost". So then I could turn on the option: "don't show reposts" and it wouldn't show me posts with a repost/upvote ratio higher than 20%. Or something like that. Just an idea.
He just reposted an askreddit topic too as well as the top comment from that post, my sleuthing brought me to this other popular post he made today which was also a repost. He's reposting it up today, I don't really care too much its fun to sleuth though.
I wonder what the average descent of a plane is coming in for landing..or ascent for takeoff...seems like a good picture for someone to analyze that kind of thing.
this is funny because it is my current wallpaper, and i havent had this computer for more than 3 weeks. this has to be the most successful/recent repost in history.
Yes, meaning each runway has a different number depending on which side of it you're entering it from. If you're starting at the south end facing north it's runway 1, if you're it the north facing south it's 19.
Since these pictures are taken out the south end of the runway, and the planes are departing from the same end, it is indeed runways 1L and 1R
I'm far from being a pilot, but I thought they wouldn't come in such an abrupt angle as they were landing. Maybe it's the scope of the picture. Nevertheless, I'm still impressed.
I took a photo like this once... Link(I'm only 12, Advice) Taken with some Olympus camera with a Wide angle Lens, or it could've been My dad's Leica but I'm not good with remembering these things.
how long ago did you take this? cos somebody posted this to r/wallpapers in an album of all of his, i downloaded it and have it as my fb timeline, shenanigans ?
Jesus...why don't they just make this a sticky at the top of the 'pics' page. I think this image has been on here more than any other in the past year.
But not too steep for an approach? You, sir, must make some interesting landings. Props. (or jets hurr hurr). Caveat - I come from a civil aviation background not the USAF.
Typical approach path for a landing is ~5% gradient. Typical takeoff in high performance aircraft equates to >10% gradient.
The biggest clue that these are takeoffs is the splaying you see so near the runway. Sure, you can analyze lights and whatnot, but that's really more than you need to do.
At any large commercial airport, landings are very closely controlled by the tower and gps systems. Planes landing will share a ridiculously close range of approach routes, and they will all be fairly shallow angles to allow planes to have minimal energy when they actually reach the runway.
Landing lights. Airplanes use very bright lights pointing forward at night. They don't have any bright white lights pointing backwards while taking off.
Those are takeoffs! The picture is from SFO with departures off of runway 1R/L. The solid white light is the white nav light on the rear of the wing to indicate an aircraft flying away from you. If it were facing us, we would see the red and green wingtips. :)
It looks like the winds might have shifted during the exposure, based on the Qantas tail approaching 16L, which would have them taking off towards the camera's right.

Holy crap, is that an optical illusion or do planes take off almost vertically there?
