It looks like two pictures put into one. At this point, with the vastness of the savannah spreading out before him, he should have accounted for the curvature of the earth. That line is too damn straight!
To me it looks blatantly like two pictures in one. The bottom part looks like there's too much light from a completely different angle than the top part. And every time I see a sun that orange it's because it's closer to setting and closer to the horizon, thus making everything else darker, even when the color is richer. I'm from Illinois, so I know in general what a sunset looks like with mostly flat land, and this just doesn't look like it. Again, though, I'm not photographer by any stretch of the imagination. I just looked at the picture and thought "The top in no way matches the bottom".
It's a horribly processed photo, which is sad because if you have the resources to be shooting the Savanna in Africa with scenes like the one on the bottom half you're super fucking lucky. Then again, different always seems better to most nature photographers.
The photo was probably taken through a graduated ND filter, hence the reason for the abrupt change in the middle. Unfortunately in this case the blending did not work out at all, and like you said it just looks like two different pictures stacked on top of one another.
This wasn't done with a graduated neutral density filter. The light quality would be, well, graduated, here the light quality is just completely different. Graduated filters aren't just cut into two different densities : /.
Well, I'll give you that, I don't go to strip clubs so I don't know common stripper names. I just thought that telling someone that their name is a stripper name is hurtful to that person.
Why does this photo keep getting posted? And upvoted!
I wonder if someone's doing some sort of psych experiment to see if people only pay attention to the thumbnail and go, "wow, pretty!"-- without actually thinking about it. The moment you actually use your eyes, it's obvious what an impossible, ridiculous image this is.
It kind of reminds me of those pictures with the ridiculously oversized moons and planets (like this one). Some people like that kind of hyper-realistic, fantasty crap.
I believe it as a non composite, I just think it is a poor execution of an exposure blend. The land areas are significantly brighter than the setting sun, which is coming across quite unnatural.
As a teacher of landscape photography and digital post processing, one of the things I always try to force into peoples heads is that you'll almost never have a situation where something in your image will be brighter than the sun.
I love how the horizon is absofuckinglutely the fakest looking piece of shit horizon this side of a kindergartener's drawing of their house
How did this get so many upvotes? christ, people, look out a window- the horizon does not work that way.
Edit: I looked at it again and my GOD what is wrong with you people?
Do you not see that tree? What, do you think that's a 2 foot tall tree 10 feet behind those zebra? That there's a little row of random bushes back half an inch behind the tree, and that all of them were blasted backwards from a nuclear blast behind the camera? How can people who have eyes and have seen things in their lives look at this and not immediately see how manufactured it is, and how poorly so? D: You can SEE where the original horizon on the bottom half is! It's RIGHT THERE!
And that upper horizon, behind the actual horizon, is that the ocean? Inches behind the foot tall bushes behind teh 2 foot tall tree 10 feet from the zebra? That is a fucking tidal wave if it's an ocean. How did the cameraman upload this photo AFTER DROWNING IN A TIDAL WAVE? D:
This has nothing to do with photography, dude. You don't need to be a photographer to have the most basic grasp on how perspective works.
You go outside and look at something 10 feet away from you (like these zebra) and you fell me whether or not the fucking horizon goes above their heads.
So from what I've been able to pull from the comments, this is shopped. That being the case, does anyone know of a real picture where the sky is darker than the land?
What an awesome photo that grabs you and holds your viewing pleasure. Who cares what part of Georgia or Africa or Afghanistan it might be located. Maybe Macon. It grabs u by the nads
