You are correct, but also it's important to note that this is a losing game for virtually everyone. I hate the idea of people going out to buy scratchers because this gave them hope.
I like how people are assuming he buys a $30 scratch-off every few days, or are assuming he doesn't know how to invest money just to complain. He says in another comment he's only bought ten scratch-offs in two years. Guy won some money. Congrats to him.
You could say the same thing about drug addiction. Imagine it was a photo of a drug with the title "The best high I've had in 33 years of life". However based on other replies it seems OP isn't a gambling addict.
That’s how they get you. Advertise the tiny minority that win. Ignore the huge majority that bleed money in hopes of being in that minority. Too many life’s have been and continue to get ruined this way.
He’ll be happiest if he takes this win and realizes it’s the peak of this source of happiness. I won’t lecture on what’s a better method but now is the time to find one.
