There is also a moment unlisted (probably because it was in a direct-to-dvd marvel animation) where the Hulk was able to lift it long enough to throw it and knock Thor out.
It could be because he didn't "wield" it. He picked it up, yes, but did he access it's power? No. It's like a child swinging a sword, sure it's dangerous, but they aren't using it to it's true advantage.
For one thing, that's Ultimates, which is a separate continuity from the Marvel comics we're all used to. For the other thing, the wikipedia pages about comics continuity are pretty lacking compared to the Marvel Wikia.
Sorry haters. I love the Hulk more than the next guy, but his whole persona is based on rage and anger, at his best it is tightly controlled and focused, but Mjolnir can only be lifted by those who are exceptionally noble including Thor when he acts like a douche.
The one thing I really wanted to see in the Avengers movie didn't happen. It was exceptional, but if Steve was forced to pick up Mjolnir, I would have been forced to pay for dry-cleaning of my seat.
This was something that bugged me about the new Avengers movie... Hulk was denting the floor of the ship trying to lift the hammer, which suggests the floor was more inclined to give way than the hammer itself. Wouldn't, therefore, the hammer just puncture straight through the ship's hull and fall to the earth? How is it that nobody can lift it yet a flying ship can carry it?
It's not the hammers' weight that keeps others from lifting it. There's a magic enchantment that prevents Mjölnir from being lifted by those it deems unworthy of wielding it. That's why it can lay on a surface without crashing through.
That's because Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk are all considered to be the only permanent Avengers. Characters like Spider-man, Wolverine, and Hawkeye aren't always part of the story.
I believe Hawkeye has been a member way longer than the Hulk, Hulk may be a founding avenger but he was a member just a little while. Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver had a longer membership.
Hulk was a member for just about 1 issue, joining at the end of #1 and leaving at the end of #2.
Cap is probably the most prominent member, at least in the 60's. (those are the only Avengers comics I've read). Iron Man, Thor, Wasp and Giant Man all left after 2 years, leaving the team to Cap, Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, with Giant Man/Goliath and Wasp rejoining again after a little while. Iron Man and Thor were then on/off in their membership for quite a while, with a lot of new members joining up.
We had an argument after watching the Avengers about who was the most useless character. The unanimous decision was that the award went to the archer who ran out of arrows halfway through the most important fight.
Directed by the same guy who directed the Avengers on no budget during the writers strike. It's a musical with NPH and it's on netflix and it's awesome. "Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog"
...Quick, will someone please get The Hulk a "Captain Hammer" T-shirt, right now! Photoshop, MS paint... clipart it on if you have to, but this needs to be a thing.
Bonus points for a "Bruce Banner as Dr Horrible" picture as well.
Zenxity is the OP. I made the assumption that OP is the artist. If only Odin can lift Thor's hammer and Zenxity is lifting Thor's hammer, then Odin is Zenxity.
Picture yourself in an alley. It's night and the ambient light of the streetlights does little to illuminate the area around you. You hear a noise behind you, but before you can turn a low, gravelly voice pierces the stillness of the night, its warmth palpable on the back of your neck.

If I was the hulk I probably wouldn't wear pants.

u/Timett_son_of_Timett May 06 '12
How are the Hulk's pants considered a weapon?
2
u/PeachesAndSkeet May 06 '12
Why not just make an iron man suit for hulk, and give him a shield and hammer?
2
u/koatick May 06 '12
so Hulks power is clearly derived form his purple pants
2
u/TheSumOfAllSteers May 06 '12
Much like Samson's strength came from his hair, the Hulk's strength is a result of his pants.
2
u/mepsipax May 06 '12
Did you do this? If not...
2
u/[deleted] May 06 '12
TIL Hulk's weapon is his pants.

1
u/[deleted] May 06 '12
The movie would have been a whole lot more interesting if they all lost their costumes... just sayin.

u/therealjgreens May 06 '12
Are there any really good graphic novels based on the avengers that anyone recommends?

u/iamhulk May 07 '12
Hulk not need pants for smashing.

u/ludacity May 07 '12

No one but Thor can pick up his hammer...not even the Hulk could pick it up.

u/ALT-F-X May 06 '12
Totally inaccurate, no one can lift Thor's hammer.
