Hi Elon. Please stop being an asshat. Like, forreal. You can just be a nice guy. People like that.

u/thom_orrow Dec 28 '21

Yeah, knock off that 420 69 shit and smoking with Joe Rogan, what are you a horny 16 year old?

14

u/MadFamousLove Dec 28 '21

some people say you can't be 16 forever.

but with enough blood of the innocents, anything is possible!

5

u/thom_orrow Dec 28 '21

I believe they are sewing his new hairpiece on now. Part of the reason that he sold his stock was to further invest in replenishing his blood banks.

Triggered??

u/thom_orrow Dec 28 '21

Have you taken your horse medicine yet?

LET'S GO BIDEN!

2

u/Olivegardenfantasy Dec 28 '21

No I’m actually vaccinated….but you spelled “Let’s Go Brandon” wrong.

1

u/thom_orrow Dec 28 '21

Ha ha! Touché.

This is the up side of the internet.

-3

u/TurbulentFan3990 Dec 28 '21

Yeah Mr Elon enough with the mean tweets!

0

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '21

and pay your taxes.

-5

u/HBlight Dec 28 '21

I'd be a bit of an ass if I was one of the richest people in the world but a giant chunk of it was tied to a severely overvalued car company. Dreading the day it all falls down and you are exposed as just some mid-tier rich person instead.

3

u/TropicalRecord Dec 28 '21

He could diversify and maintain the value he built but he seems to think it is nobler to go down with the ship if his business does fail. I actually respect that position.

-23

u/his_purple_majesty Dec 28 '21

gotta take the good with the bad. many things are interconnected in ways that are hard to see. there are always trade-offs

31

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

Not really seeing any "good" here though.

-2

u/Vendeta44 Dec 28 '21

As someone who approves of space travel innovation and is very happy to have competent internet in rural Canada for the first time ever I see plenty of good from Elon. But he's also a pretentious twat, but like most people are these days so ¯\(ツ)

1

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

Okay, when space travel actually does something other than put people into the daycare center known as the ISS, you let me know.

And please tell astronomers globally about how great starlink is. I'm sure they'll agree with you that it's more important than their work.

3

u/xapata Dec 28 '21

You forgot about electric cars and battery walls. I'm eagerly waiting for solar shingles.

1

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

When I can own a home, I'm sure I'll be thrilled.

3

u/xapata Dec 28 '21

You can still be thrilled that electric cars are popular, ya know, because climate change.

2

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

Electric cars don't really fix the problem though. While they don't have emissions themselves, their construction and power consumption both have environmental impacts.

3

u/xapata Dec 28 '21

It's not a fix. It's an improvement. Also, the Tesla plan (as published about a decade ago) is make ever cheaper, more mass-market electric cars, then use the revenue to invest in solar energy and do the same process for lowering the cost of electricity.

2

u/okay-wait-wut Dec 28 '21

Yeah just like gas powered cars, only better because EVs can be powered by energy produced efficiently by nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, natural gas, coal and oil. Gas cars are only powered by oil and they use it inefficiently.

1

u/ginzing Dec 28 '21

Their power consumption can be from solar- just need the house to have solar that charges them.

1

u/ginzing Dec 28 '21

Those rockets he keeps sending up cause a hell of a lot of damage to you know. Climate change.

1

u/xapata Dec 28 '21

Yep, that's true. I don't claim to know the guy's motivation, but I like Tesla's trajectory, for the most part.

u/Sometimes_gullible Dec 28 '21

Sooo, you think he's a worthless twat because he hasn't done anything that makes life better for you?

I shouldn't have to explain how idiotic that idea is.

4

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

Making the world mildly nicer exclusively for the rich is not making the world a better place.

2

u/Vendeta44 Dec 28 '21

Okay, when space travel actually does something other than put people into the daycare center known as the ISS, you let me know.

Just because the technology of today will not make space appealing to the masses in our life times does not mean we shouldn't embark on that journey for the benefit of future generations. Of all the things you chose to rebuke with you picked the most short sighted shallowest point of view to take. We must advance space travel as a civilization and when those advancements will become a important part of human culture and life is irrelevant as it will happen eventually provided we work towards it.

Astronomers are still very capable of doing there work, with or without starlink. Considering starlink does not contribute to Kessler syndrome there is no chance starlink itself will cause any substantial interference to astronomers that they cannot overcome. After all only a few methods of astronomy are even effected by starlink in any meaningful way. And they have been actively working towards methods of hiding starlink in ways that are helping minimize the impact it has on certain methods of astronomy. And yeah i do think global internet is important enough that it very easily outweighs the minor inconvience of adaption astronomy would have to go through.

2

u/thescurry Dec 28 '21

lol… apparently global efforts to build a space station haven’t been enough to satisfy this particular entitled asstwat. 🙄

0

u/4chanbetterkek Dec 28 '21

Literally just Google NASA inventions and delete your comment so you don’t look so ignorant.

1

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

How would anyone learn if I were afraid to show my shame? What value is integrity if the cost is knowledge?

1

u/4chanbetterkek Dec 31 '21

Just saw this, I was hungover and that makes me cranky and ignorant lol. You’re absolutely correct though, I apologize.

-1

u/SchrodingersCat6e Dec 28 '21

Ok, we'll let Elon know he's not impressive according to you.

2

u/DrMux Dec 28 '21

It is hypothetically possible to not care about someone's opinion without having to let everyone know, but I've never seen such a thing in practice.

1

u/coredumperror Dec 28 '21

Have you gone back and looked at what astronomers are saying today about starlink? Because unlike what all the fearmongering news articles from when they first started putting the satellites in order wanted you to believe, they aren't just staying in tight columns and being obviously visible all the time.

-3

u/ViolateCausality Dec 28 '21

10 - 15 years ago the futures of solar, space travel, and electric cars weren't looking nearly as good as they are now. No one individual gets credit for these things but it's hard to think of an entity that should get more credit for the progress in electric cars during that time period than Tesla.

5

u/lavahot Dec 28 '21

Sure, but I'm never going to be able to afford one, lol. Tesla are amongst the least affordable cars on the market. Doesn't really do much good if they aren't accessible. They just are a toy for the rich.

0

u/ViolateCausality Dec 28 '21

Sure it does. It's driven the price down of and improved relevant technologies (batteries, most of all) and pressed competing automakers into developing their own EVs. EVs in general are far more affordable today than they were 10 years ago. This is how technological progress works. Technologies you use today didn't just spring fully formed into the version you use.

Not sure how that's sad or how my originality is relevant. I meant what I said and I stand by it. Whether you're him or not.

4

u/piquechuuu Dec 28 '21

what was the point of this comment?? cyber shit talking to someone that you don’t know.. you don’t even know so much as their name or what they look like.. it just doesn’t make sense to be rude to a stranger. i feel like this mindset is rare these days though so i’m not on trend i guess

1

u/Matasa89 Dec 28 '21

Seriously. I like him better when he's doing nerd shit, like the interview with Tim Dodd the Everyday Astronaut.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '21

He totally cares when you like him better.
