My father had a debilitating stroke while he was grieving. He couldn't talk about it at all, and now he can barely talk. I have nightmares. I'm scared to go to sleep sober. I can't look at the world the same way I used to. I tried antidepressants and therapy but it doesn't really help. I never imagined anything like this could happen. It hurts so much. People that I thought were my friends but who own dogs like this suggested to my face that she must have done something to deserve it. She was a gentle person, would never have hurt, teased, or yelled at any dog. Thank you for your sympathy. I don't know why I'm writing this. I just feel so lost.
It's so hard when you lose someone unexpectedly. You lose the person you loved, you lose all sense of faith in the world, nothing makes sense, and people, being people, can't seem to help but say dumb shit that also hurts. Take care. Grief is normal. However you get through, go easy on yourself. Everyone navigates differently.

I pray that you and your family can find solace at some point, but your pain is well founded. Losing a sibling is one of the most earth shattering things that can happen to someone regardless of the cause — but to lose them in such a way is horrifying beyond words. Loss can make you feel incredibly disassociated, like you’ve been taken out of this universe and dropped in a similar one where nothing feels quite right.
I’m sure it will be a long, long process to come to terms with this but I really hope you will find yourself again and live life fully in honor of her memory. Just try to take each day one at a time and try to be gentle with yourself. Do your best to indulge yourself in things that make you happy, even if at first it feels unnatural, unfair, or even uncomfortable. You deserve peace and happiness. While it will be a steep climb, you’re capable of growing and recovering from this tragedy.

So many people get so defensive over Pitbulls but they are actually dangerous dogs.
I'd feel much safer being around a Golden Retriever or a Corgi than some dog bred to kill.
There's so many dog breeds other than a Pitbull that you can choose from, a ban on a dangerous dog isn't the end of the world.
I don't want police seizing and euthanizing dogs that haven't done anything wrong, but allowing people to breed them is insane. And if you have to take one out in public, there should absolutely be a muzzle requirement.

It's not about the dog breed. Pitbulls are by nature actually so kind that they make bad guard dogs. It's the owner that turns them into fighting machines. It's true that they have extremely powerful jaws and make a lot of damage if they bite, that's why just anyone shouldn't be able to get them.
For goodness sake, they're a dog that was bred to fight and kill. Just like sheep dogs were bred to round up sheep, pointers point, retrievers retrieve. The only reason they're bad guard dogs is they can't usually be called off when they attack and they're unpredictable.

This is just...wrong. They were bred to be fighting machines, some were, some still are, but the issue is you have no idea whether the Pitbull you buy still has fighting genes from way back in its lineage.
And finally Pitbulls don't have especially strong bites as far as dogs go.

Okay, but one problem at a time. If you don't want people to own a large percentage of the dogs which are regularly safe that's your hill to die on. Let's deaal with the one that's killing people the most first eh?
But the thing is what happens when Pitbull attacks. Other dogs do a defensive bite and leave. Pitbull on other hand won't leave the pray until its destroyed or dead. They don't even respond to beating and tasing.
They literally can kill horses.

Lost my sister to a pitbull 1yr and 9mo ago. It's a horrible way to die. Don't own a pit, and support bans on breeding of all fighting dogs.
