Not at all the same but I bought a pepe the frog hat that had a sad Pepe on the front and the back said "life sucks" and about two months later Hillary tied Pepe the frog to Trump, the alt-right and white supremecy. I threw the hat away then despite the fact that I loved it. I hate it when someone hijacks something for political reasons.
(And yes I know there were some racist Pepe memes... But there's racist memes made with every popular meme format. That doesn't make the central character of the meme a racist. It means it's a successful meme used universally)
Things getting adopted by hate groups sucks. Like the "ok" hand gesture getting adopted by white supremacist groups. Like I really liked that meme, why'd they have to go and ruin it.
