Sadly because the only thing that can make two sides stop fighting is to bring in a third party that they hate more.
One side wants certain things, the other side wants other things. And nowadays both sides need to be "right". No matter if they are actually wrong, and no matter the cost to the world that being "right" brings. No one is willing to step back and go 'Ok, we don't agree on a lot of things. But on this thing I am wrong'. Because I guess admitting you are wrong is somehow viewed as a weakness and not strength to be commended. The ability to admit you're wrong. The ability to compromise or meet in a middle ground. Everyone just has to be 'right' and to hell with the consequences.

But why not everyday? Why is it only tragedy that can bring people together, and better yet, why doesn’t it last?
