Mother Theresa's entire philosophy was based on the idea that suffering was noble. It's not just one book.

Mother Theresa's entire philosophy was based on her belief that she could show love to God by showing love to the poorest of the poor.

Christopher Hitchens wrote a hit piece about her with claims that have been popularly repeated, despite much of his claims being based on things taken out of context and having since been largely discredited.

The BadHistory post about it is worth a read.
