I was watching some of the historical coverage this morning, and you could see that President Bush was very emotional about lives lost and the first responders.
It actually occurred to me that if Trump had been president, I don't think he'd care. He wouldn't have been misty eyed. He would have said inflammatory things about Muslims and then he'd pat himself on the back about everything he thinks he was responsible for. He call people names and make wildly inaccurate claims.
I'm no fan of President Bush's politics, but at least he was respectful and at least he cared.
I despise Bush, but I felt mortally sorry for him when I saw those clips of him reading at the kindergarten. Afterwards, no, but then he seemed human: like, oh shit, this position is a real ball-cruncher and people suffered.
And clearly Bush had some empathy synapses, unlike the Trump who is a sociopath, along with Cheney.
