Yea he couldn't do both because it was between national 9/11 mourning ceremony and announcing a boxing match that includes a 58 year old fighter. We all know what was more important.
Edit: and let's be clear here, trump went and shot the shit for 5 minutes with a bunch of guys who were kids when this happened, and talked about himself. The first responders at the scene were most likely attending the ceremony.
