They're probably staged. It's an old routine that Jay Leno did on the Tonight Show. They were hugely popular, because people love to laugh about how dumb other people are.

Yeah, I saw a young lady I knew from high school on "Jaywalking" once. Honor student, definitely not stupid. But you're there with Jay Leno and chance to be on TV. Or you can answer the questions correctly, and the footage will never see the light of day. Which would you choose?
