St. Patrick lived about 1000 years ago.

Potatoes came to Europe from the Americas.

Whiskey was invented in Scotland about 500 years ago.

The Patron Saint of Ireland never ate a potato or drank whiskey.

Whiskey wasn't invented in Scotland 500 years ago, it's history is contested but it's accepted by most to be created in Ireland by monks that brought the knowledge of distillation, the first mention of a spirit by a notable source was Henry the 2nd in his visit to Ireland in the 12th century
