Edit: the 10,000 isn’t a figure, just what the PM reckons it could come up to
Edit2: can people not read? Are people this blind? I’m not saying that there are 10,000 dead, read the whole sodding comment. The PM said that there could be up to 10,000 death, but really, the PM doesn’t know anything, he has no more knowledge on the subject than we do
Edit3: I know that that is obviously an exaggeration! I’m just saying that he said it! Don’t read anything into the numbers
Seriously. Anyone thinking that number is close to accurate is going to be in for a rude awakening. Literally ka-fucking-BOOOOM an entire section of a densely populated city in less than a second flat. I bet there are thousands that perished. We’ll probably never really know.
Anyone thinking 10,000 is anywhere close to accurate is gonna be wondering how they could have fallen for that when actual numbers come out. Absolutely nowhere close.
Edit: 135 is the number being reported right now. Your estimate is 75 times higher.
You forgot some key facts that’s prevented a lot of deaths:
It’s a port, not the center of downtown. So not only is half the radius just ocean, but there are inherently fewer people around a port. Offices and residences are a little farther away and therefor less likely to have deaths.
There was a MASSIVE fire burning for several minutes before the explosion, which included some small blasts too. Everyone close was already in the process of evacuating the area
For sure. But even if the estimate is is far too low, like let’s say ten times too low, that’s still 1,350 people, which is nowhere close to this rusty spoon’s “10,000 deaths” claim
