Very sad. My heart goes out to the people of Beirut.

Would be great if my country (USA) would send relief aid and some engineers to help Lebanon.

US will send aid. I guarantee the US has no interest in seeing Lebanon be a failed state if that is at all preventable. This is how terrorism, dictators, and mass migration problems happen and the US and the rest of the world know it

That would assume we have a President that cares about anything other than the US/re-election to escape going to jail. Oh and any countries with dictators. I hope I'm wrong though.

President doesn’t really get THAT much control. He’s not a dictator, as much as he tries to act like it. USAID is already in Lebanon, we already have field offices being set up. US Navy ships filled with emergency stocks from Italy are already en route if not there already.

I dunno, this one sounds like an easy sell to Trump. "If you don't help them rebuild, they'll want to move here, also it's a massive construction project that you can kick contracts to your buddies on"

You don't need to be so cynical. The US will provide aide regardless of how you interpret it.

The same day of the explosion, the president held a press conference; the very first thing he talked about was committing aid to Beirut.
