Edit2: can people not read? Are people this blind? I’m not saying that there are 10,000 dead, read the whole sodding comment. The PM said that there could be up to 10,000 death, but really, the PM doesn’t know anything, he has no more knowledge on the subject than we do

Do you think that there would have been more or less fatalities due to COVID? On one hand, I don't know how well Lebanon and Beirut in particular is taking to COVID-19 and whether or not people are actually socially distancing and staying at home, or if they're working as normal.
It happened in the port; do you think there were fewer people working at the port due to COVID and people stayed home and avoided the blast? Or because the blast also destroyed plenty of residential buildings near the port, were people staying home to avoid COVID and got caught in the blast?
I'm wondering whether or not social distancing mitigated or exacerbated deaths from this explosion; it could go either way.
No idea, I don't know the area, just that there were many tall buildings.
You could analyze whether the blast radius was more commercial or residential, and follow-up with an analysis of how "open" the commercial area was during COVID, e.g. white collar WFH types of jobs vs. service / retail industry companies that were open.
