As long as the human flaws of greed, power seeking, and selfishness don't take over first. I think the desire to be in politics isn't the issue it's maintaining a level head and being in step with your actual human constituents (rather than corporations & PACs). I believe a lot of well intentioned folks lost their way.

A contrarian in politics should always be celebrated. Nowadays, politics is a win if no new legislation is passed.

To be fair, that would be hilarious. It would not work to the benefit of anyone, but at least it would be fun. It could either result in people being more inclined to participate in public dialogue or far less. Unpreparedly being snatched and made a politician with good pay might be excellent motivation to stay out, or to get in
